Hello! I have a few questions about Cornell's financial aid deadlines.
Everything is due by February 15th, correct? The IDOC (which isn't available until February 1st, if I am reading things correctly?), FAFSA (finished using estimates), CSS (finished using estimates)?

I have one concern, though. My parents will most likely not have their 2013 taxes filed by February 15th. The earliest they'll finish is the end of February. Does Cornell need the 2013 IDOC files on the 15th, or do they accept 2012 taxes like some other universities do until my parents file their taxes? I was going to call them, but I was wondering if anyone else had this issue with taxes not being filed by February 15th?

I apologize if I sound completely ignorant on this, haha. Applying to financial aid is starting to seem harder than applying to the college itself! Thanks for all your help!

Does anybody has any idea on this? Most likely we will not be able to finish our 2013 tax returns by Feb 15 because of some paperworks from bank, mortgage will not be available by then. Is it OK to send last year tax return?

Hey guys, are colleges strict about their financial aid deadlines, or is it not as big of a deal as the admissions deadlines? I wanted to send everything in at the same time, but my parents and I don’t have everything together yet, so it might only be ready a few days after the deadline. I just don’t want to end up getting screwed over. Everyone needs aid!

I filed the CSS on Saturday and in the acknowledgment/receipt from the College Board, it said this re IDOC:
IDOC processing will begin in early February 2014. At that time you will be emailed instructions on how and where to submit your documents. Unless you are instructed otherwise, do not submit your 2013 tax documents directly to the colleges listed above. Wait for your IDOC notification email to arrive, and then follow the instructions. (If you are applying to colleges in addition to those listed above, follow their instructions for submitting tax and other documents.)

I just went to: https://idoc.collegeboard.org … and signed on with my ssn and dob … got my idoc number and printed out cover sheet. Didn’t wait to receive any email from them. However, my parents will not have their taxes done either. grrrrrr. too late to call CU today.

Got reply from CU. If you don’t meet 2/14 deadline for your IDOC papers … you might be receiving acceptance letter withOUT financial aid info attached … so the decision to go there would be w/o knowing your fin. aid package. We were told: file by 14th.

Sorry for the delay–I contacted Cornell a couple weeks ago by phone.
They said that the 15th is the deadline, but they accept information later and only want the 2013 tax information. This can delay financial aid offers if you are accepted, and try to get it in asap after the 15th deadline. Basically, like Little Bear said, file! They do not want your 2012 info at all through IDOC/mail, only 2013 IDOC forms.

We will be filing this week, so I’m hoping the “postmarked” deadline Cornell says will be okay if it’s postmarked to CollegeBoard by the 15th. If not, I hope a few days after the deadline don’t make a big difference if I’m lucky enough to get accepted!

We have some tax forms that won’t be available to us until Feb 18th, due to the fact that the 15th is a weekend followed by President’s Day. So, we can’t even finish our taxes without those. Not happy about it but there’s nothing we can do. I sent the FA office an email.

I called the FA office today and they told me as long as everything is in before March 1st we will be fine. I’m a little uneasy about it, but there’s nothing we can do about tax forms not arriving until Feb 18th.

I have the same problem, there is a necessary form that isn’t available and won’t be until after that, and it is from a big broker sending out all their forms that day, so this has to be a problem for a large number of people.
