I’m a junior in high school and I live in North Carolina. I’ve been looking at Cornell, specifically the Dyson School, and if I’m correct, I would need to apply into the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. As a middle class person, I would definitely need financial aid to go. Since the CALS is a contract college with the state of New York, would that have any affect financial aid that I would get? It is worth noting that I did the Net Price Calculator and it said that Cornell is affordable. Thank you so much!
Contract colleges only affect the cost for in-state students. The price for you would be the same regardless of which college within Cornell you applied to.
@bab54251 I was just accepted ED and I also live in NC but I applied for College of Engineering. The previous poster is right though, the contract school part only effects residents of NY. Anyway, the net price calculator for us was within about 5% of the actual financial aid offer I received, so it’s pretty accurate. It all depends on your income, but I would also classify us as middle to middle/high income and our final family contribution came in at about $32K. The rest of the $60K per year is covered by Cornell grants (free money) and a couple of small eligible student loans. It’s still considerably more than going to NC State or UNC Chapel Hill but cheaper than Duke.
I applied regular decision and was wondering if I am accepted to Cornell will I receive the financial aid decision at that time or does it come later? It looks like for ED it came with your decision, correct? Thank you! @cotopaxi
@STEM2021 No, my financial aid letter came about 8-10 days later as I recall. I expect RD may take a couple weeks since there are a lot more applicants.
Thank you for the reply! @cotopaxi
