I recently visited Cornell for "Cornell Days" with my daughter. She is very interested, and may end up attending. During one of the talks a student discussed recent tragic events and the support the school is giving to students to deal with stress. Following the program I went on my own to visit the Teagle and Helen Newman fitness centers.

There are obvious reasons they are not on the official tour routes! They made me think of 1960's vintage urban YMCAs. Certainly one of the best ways to deal with stress would be to workout regularly. Did I miss something, or was this the best Cornell has to offer? Any plans to build a modern fitness center for regular students?

Teagle and Helen Newman are the basic gyms/pool/bowling alley; there are more modern fitness centers/weight rooms in Appel on North campus, and Noyes on West.

Thanks TskDbx - Your reply helped me do a better search. I think fitness centers are still a problem, but not as dire as i thought just looking at the 2 older facilities. It looks like there are plans to remodel Newman -
