im considering applying to cornell because it has a good bio and physics program and good research opportunities...plus i like lakes and woods

i guess my only reservations about the place are the big classes and the large student body....i heard that cornell has huge lectures which im sure will make me fall asleep

You like bio and physics? And the great outdoors? Apply, for sure.

Only some classes are notoriously large (and they are LARGE), but most classes are as small as any other schools. The gigantic classes skews the data a bit. I've had classes with less than 20 people.

If you're into bio/physics, your freshman classes in these subjects will probably be giant lectures, and you'll have a few of these in your sophomore year too. However for the big lectures, you will have lab classes that are much smaller and your other required classes (writing seminars) will be small. Upper level classes will get smaller.

most huge lectures are introductory levels. as you get more advanced in a particular field, your class size becomes smaller and smaller. in all of freshmen year i was in 2 big lecture classes, and im in a&s.
