Hey I have a GT for fall 2009
I am currently rushing frats at my current U
I was wondering how some of the frats that I am thinking about compare at CU or if they exist there.
FIJI
DKE
Psi U
Phi Psi
SAE
PIKE

if you are transferring, i would honestly wait to get to cornell to join.. there are a ton of transfers in every pledge class. i know my pledge class had 6 of 17 that were transfers.

i know one kid who joined a frat then came to cornell and tried to join the cornell chapter and had bad experiences. i think some fraternities are better than others with bringing in a guy from a different chapter after he transfers. however you have to realize that the guys wont be exactly the same, and you didnt go through pledging with them so they may be resentful.

wait till you get to cornell to join a house. you wont have problems getting into a house as a transfer as long as your personality fits.

on one last note, we have all of those chapters here.

I appreciate your view, but I am at a school right now that I want to join a frat. I at least want to try to see if I can transfer my brotherhood over. If not I will deactivate and pledge again

I don't know how fraternities work...but I know this doesn't fly with sororities. I know a transfer who was in a sorority at her old school...didn't like the chapter at Cornell and went through rush. Well...the Cornell chapter of her sorority found out about this and not only was she kicked out of rush, the sorority she was in kicked her out.

sororities are different. There has to be a year between years of pledging.

I'd say rank of those is

SAE, Psi U, Pike, Fiji, Dke. I didnt put phi psi in there b/c it's pretty much specialized frat for football and swimming from what I know (so certain varsity sports). To tell you the truth half of those are specialized if u don't mind me saying. SAE is cool and rich with a mix of preppy and skateboarder. Psi U is cool and rich (old moneyish). Pike is the coolest Jewish one and has lots of Long Island Jews. Then the rest aren't as much specialized (altho Fiji is known for being a large frat). I don't know anyone who transfered into a frat but I do think they would be a little bit resented or outcast since a purpose of pledging is to bond with eachother and jump certain hurdles. But u can of course join one there and join another here (have friends who did that) but that's a personal choice of dedication.

To Cornellians: I said very general and rather accepted stereotypes of the frats so pls don't argue b/c it would do no good in this situation since I am the only one that gave a straightforward answer to his question (and didn't give monetary scores or insult any frat)
