Cornell fundraising

President Skorton stated in a year-end letter that Cornell ranked third in giving among higher education institutions in fiscal year 2009. Cornell ended the 2010 fiscal year with new gifts and commitments up 77%. The same letter indicates that last year Cornell had the top results in the Ivies for new gifts and commitments.

We have the largest alumni base of the Ivy League and we pester each and every one of them all year long until they give–best job on campus BTW.

Funny Malan. Actually Penn, Columbia, and Harvard have more total students than Cornell.
Those 3 schools have much larger graduate and professional student enrollments than Cornell.

As someone who interacts with these people on a regular basis, I can promise you that undergraduate alumni giving is a much bigger deal than graduate and professional school giving.

Also, it seems like, of those schools, only Columbia is larger than Cornell after graduate and professional schools are considered.
Harvard has roughly 21,200 in all according to their website.
Penn has 21,203 if part time, non degree seeking students aren’t counted.
Cornell has 20,939 students in Ithaca, plus roughly another 900 at Weill Cornell in NYC and 150 in Qatar, totaling right around 22,000.

Thanks for checking the numbers Malan.
