Cornell grads careers

As I mentioned in an earlier thread, I am interested in majoring in either mathematics or statistics (or both) and maybe minor in economics. I am aware that my academic interests might change over the years and I don't know how good or bad I'll do in college, but - just hypothetically - assume I'll do good work, how are the chances for Cornell grads to find employment in the financial services industry? Is Cornell a good school if your dream is not work later for firms such as Goldman Sachs or Deutsche Bank, for instance? It's an ivy league school, and it's quite selective, fine, but aren't there many competitors from other schools such as Harvard, Princeton, MIT?

if your a smart dude who plays his cards right in college you should have no problem working for any of the big banks. I hear they recruit, but clearly it’s competitive so your going to have to distinguish yourself from the pack.

IBs recruit on campus the first few weeks of spring semester, most of them require 3.5 GPA, and they do not just recruit from AEM.

There are a lot of competition out there for jobs, but Cornell has a large alumni network. Many firms have cut back on campus recruiting, but Deutche has decided to keep Cornell on its list because of the alums at Deutche.

Cornell also has a very good career center. They are active in getting companies to recruit on campus. They require firms to adhere to Cornell’s policies before they could recruit, and those policies protect students from making a decision before they are ready. I would suggest for you to visit the career center as soon as possible when you arrive on campus.

ok, thank you.
