The notification for early decision applicants was yesterday. But when I went to check mine they said that they have not yet made a decision on my application.

I submitted my application way before the deadline day. What does this mean?

Deferral is something you get in the early round that puts (defers) you to the regular round. Waitlist comes at the end of regular round. I believe few people get in through waitlists but it changes every year.

Yes, @renomamma is correct. You are now considered an RD applicant. You will be reviewed with the regular decision round with a decision in late March. You can be accepted, rejected, or waitlisted in this round.

Some years colleges take none, a few, or more than a few off the waitlist depending on how many have matriculated and if there are any open spots. If waitlisted, you need to “accept” the waitlist position and they will advise you if you have made it off the waitlist. Advice is to put a deposit down on a school that you were outrightly accepted to because spots off the waitlist are few and far between.
