Hey! I’ve applied to Cornell HEOP for the Class of 2024. My intended major is Biomedical Engineering. For those who have been accepted to Cornell HEOP 2024, was there anything that you had to do after submitted documentation for Cornell to determine your economic eligibility? I submitted my documents a month in advance, and I recently had a CAAN phone call with an alumna. I also received an email about the financial aid webinar in January and I think I RVSP but I had so much going on so I didn’t get to attend. Do you think this will harm my chances? But in general, I created this forum as a way for other current HEOP applicants or previously admitted HEOP applicants to share any information. I’ve found that there isn’t a lot of information regarding admissions to top universities in NY via HEOP. Let’s educate each other
Also, did anyone start receiving emails from Cornell because they found you through the student college search? Is this a good indicator? Also, if I attended an HEOP session do you guys think this gives me a good advantage? It probably doesn’t but I was just curious.
I applied! I find their poor communication frustrating though. When I call the HEOP office with legitimate questions they refer me to the email, but when I email I get no reply.
Oh wow, that sucks. I think I emailed them with a question regarding HEOP and they never replied either. What’s your major btw?
I applied Linguistics. I’m also interested in Phil, Neuro, CogSci, and Math but I could only choose one so…
That’s cool lol. I’m also interested in Africana Studies, I’m hoping to minor in it.
Hi! I applied to Cornell 2024 under HEOP under the major of environmental studies. I have found little information for admissions under HEOP which is super annoying but I am glad I am not the only one! I received an email and submitted all the requirements but do you happen to know when we’ll hear back from them? Also, I was wondering if you or anyone else happens to know whether or not I can apply to Cornell under HEOP for graduate school if I do not get into cornell for undergrad?
I don’t know about applying to Cornell under HEOP for graduate school but when I did a google search, it mentions a Graduate Opportunity Program that provides partial tuition assistance to New York State Opportunity Program graduates who are admitted to a graduate degree program at participating a SUNY campus, maybe you should email them and ask. I also received an email about submitting all the requirements but I didn’t hear back after that. I did a CAAN phone call with a Cornell alumna but that’s pretty much it. I’m assuming that we’re going to hear back on decision day.
Alright thank you. If you hear back from them do let me know and I’ll do the same. Best of Luck to the both of us! Also when is decision day for Cornell?
Also, how can I do a CAAN phone call with a Cornell alumna because that would be great on getting more insight on the information regarding HEOP program.
Good luck!! And any more information that I have I’ll let you know. Decisions should come out in late March or early April but I don’t have a specific date. Online it says it is likely that decisions for all Ivy’s will come out at 5 p.m. or 7 p.m. on March 28th or before that.
I’m not sure if you can request a CAAN referral but I was just contacted by email. I think it’s based on the availability of alumnas, so it’s not guaranteed that you’ll receive one but I don’t think it would hurt to inquire about one ! Just remember that if you do receive one, I’m not sure if they’d be able to answer HEOP specific questions because they could be from a different state or maybe from NY but didn’t partake in the HEOP program at Cornell like my alumna. It’s still a great opportunity to ask specific questions about the university and their experience in general.
Alright, Thank You so much!! You have truly been very helpful and I will look into it. I am assuming you were able to talk to an alumna because you emailed them first right? If so I will email them as well.
Also how did you find out about the CAAN referral? Just curious as I feel dumb for not knowing about this at all. If there was a website do you mind posting the link as maybe I might find other important information that might be helpful. Thanks again, you have truly been so helpful!
Don’t feel dumb lol and your’e welcome that’s what we’re here for. An alumna personally reached out to me. For more information, check out this link: https://caaan.admissions.cornell.edu/
Anyone hear from the HEOP office yet? Did you guys get the invitation for the webinar? I attended it but since then I haven’t heard back yet.
Hey I was wondering which webinar are you talking about. Also I think we should be hearing back by this week or next week. Did you ever receive an email in January that they are considering your application for HEOP.
Yeah I got something in January asking for financial documents which I sent in. Then like a week ago I got the invitation for the webinar which I attended earlier this week. I am just anxious for what will happen next.
Same.
Anyone from previous years have any insight on the process?
