Cornell Hotel Business Admission Question

I attend a comm. college in CA AND
I am planning on applying to Cornell this Fall as a Hotel Biz major.
BUT, i have a few-- what i consider-- “setbacks.”

I haven’t really done anything to do with hotel biz
(possible explanation: hotels want people that can work many hours and I don’t have time, and they don’t pay well enough for me to economically sustain)

My SAT was only 2010 when i took it in high school
I don’t know if I should retake that. (actually retaking the SAT would
be dreadful).

With these in mind
I have stellar grades (4.0), done some extracurricular acts.
W these in mind,

should I still risk my $70 to apply?

should I retake the SAT?

AND, i have heard that Cornell campus SUCKs
anyone w some experience?
OR can u suggest any other school for HOtel Biz?

Back in the last century I did seven years in Ithaca as a grad student and grad student’s spouse. The location is gorgeous, and the university is beautiful (and yes, I have been back within the last three years so my information is fairly recent). What may be a problem for you is the weather in Ithaca. You will need to think very carefully about that.

I had friends in the hotel school, and the general impression that I got was that demonstrated commitment to the industry (usually through work experience) was critical to admission. My biggest concern about your possible application is your statement “I haven’t really done anything to do with hotel biz”. If you have no work experience in this business, why on earth do you think that it is the business that you WANT to be in? Sort that through, and you will probably have your answers to your questions.
