Cornell=Hotel Career?

This might be a naive question to ask, but just because one might go to the Hotel School at Cornell, does that mean that the only career they can think about aspiring to is in the hospitality industry? Also, can this degree help one get into a better MBA program, say at Harvard or Yale, or does the Hotel/Hospitality aspect limit the scope of study needed for these schools?

Reason I'm asking is because I'd like to go to Cornell for business, but I might not want to necessarily be in the hotel industry as a career.

Any help?

Cornell business = Applied Economics & Management/Cornell

Applied Economics and Management

Of course, being a hotelie would be a good foundation for an MBA. However, the general "business" degree is AEM.

the hotel school is NOT the business school

...the farm school is

Do you want to major in Hotel Management or in Business? Those are two separate majors in two separate colleges within Cornell. Either way, students from both colleges will have opportunities that reach beyond their major, since companies from many industries recruit students from both. However, students who major in Business will probably have more exposure to "Business" careers whereas students who major in Hotel Management will probably have more exposure to Hospitality careers.

Wow. I had no idea. What school or college is the Business major in, if its not in the Hotel school?

Agriculture and Life Sciences.

THANK YOU! I would have applied to the Hotel School and not even have been aware of he undergrad Business program. This site rocks.

Cornell University is made of many different schools on the campus. Hotel Administration is one of the many schools associated with the university.

Yeah I know. I was just unaware that there was a separate business degree outside of the Hotel School. Thanks though!
