Please feel free to ask for more information please...I'm too tired to type :S

Fred

Anyone please?

To sum it up,
my most impressive creditentials are starting a real business (not just a little kid one), being executive director of a non profit, starting a soft-book bank, creating a network of undergraduate and graduate student consultants across the country, and being host of a radio show on business.

lovely EC's but it takes alot to impress Cornell admissions officers. On my interview to ilr, the admissions officer said they get alot of people who are only so-so in school but have started huuuge businesses and so forth ... but the bottom line is Cornell is an academic instutution and the GPA is what somebody needs first and foremost.

Raise it up to at least a 3.5 and you'll have a shot.

Hey thanks for the reply.

Are you serious!? I didn't think that many people would have started huge businesses already. Most people my age know here do little other than drink and join a few clubs.

I'm not trying to be arrogant, alot of the things I've done are very doable. You just have to put some effort in it. I work very long hours.

i am repeating stuff that was told to me by admissions ... seriously.

she cited situations where people graduate high school (so-so grades) and go on to start businesses then go on to apply a few years later with a multi-million dollar business. It's great that they were successful, but what have they proven for academics? Nothing really, and they wont be admitted.

this case is a tradeoff between gpa and EC's. None of the people i know at Cornell have started a business before ... but all were the best of the best in high school and at other colleges if they transfered. Though Fred's EC's and work experience will be among the best that will be admitted to Cornell, his GPA is not. Change this, and the chances will increase greatly.

Agreed, raise the GPA.

Thanks for the replies.

Its quite difficult to do everything at once. Of course I know that raising my GPA would increase my chances. But the problem is its not always possible to do everything at once. BUt I would maybe go with G's and slipper's advice. Maybe GPA should be the focus. Everything else can wait a bit,

you have great EC's ... dont worry about them for a semester or two (preferably two).

You could probably sit on your butt for two years and still have better EC's and experience than most. Cornell wants driven individual who will can handle the intense academic environment. Pull two semesters of 3.7+ and you'll be in great shape.

Thanks buddy :).

Hi, I am a second semester freshman attending Purdue University in the Hospitality and Tourism Management Dept. I want to transfer to Cornells Hotel School. What do other students think about the hotel students. Purdue's HTM program is one of the the top three hotel schools. I was rejected as a freshman to the cornell hotel school. My first semester at purdue had 17 credits, GPA 3.82 ; second semester i am taking 21 credits almost sure i will get a 4.0. In honors program here. Im from Los Angeles. My high school GPA was a 3.5, will that kill my chances. Should I wait another year. The school says 30 precent of their graduating class at the hotel school are transfers. What are my chances??? Thanks.

Hijacking is bad open a new thread

how. can you respond to my message I wrote??
