This fall I applied regular decision to the School of Hotel Administration at Cornell. I found out I was wait listed and will hear my decision in mid-May. Unfortunately I couldn't find any information about the waiting list at the Hotel School or at the University itself, but I did hear that last year they did not accept any of the 3,000 students placed on the waiting list. I thought I met all of the requirements of a typical applicant and now feel frustrated that I didn't apply early decision when I know that the Hotel School is my first choice.
I am getting a recommendation letter from another one of my teachers, my boss, and am currently writing an essay which I will send to the admissions office before May 1st. Any advice for me? Other things I should do/send to the admissions office?

How did you find out that you were on the waitlist??

They told me on April 1st! Did you apply?

I was also wait listed at the Hotel School

Sorry guys, you’re out of luck. Cornell typically does not use its waitlist at all and I believe waitlisted applicants to the Hotel school have even less of a chance due to how specific the school is. Unlike CAS or even Engineering students, applicants to the hotel school would probably not apply to a simalar college simply because Cornell is the best and most well known for that degree which is offered at very few other colleges. If you get into Cornell Hotel school, you’re probably going.

Waitlist sucks, but you’re right^ My only hope is that they may accept other students because the university accepted 500 less students this year than last year

What were ll our guys stats?
Did you buys have work experience?

The Hotel School has a very high yield – somewhere between 80 and 90%. They are very good at predicting how many students will accept their admissions offer.

I got my waitinglist letter along with a guaranteed transfer offer…
hope it is a good sign!
I can go to hotel school any way but it’s just whether this year or next year…

Just found out today that I was accepted off the waitlist =]

can someone pose a little bio about what their grades, extracurricular and all the stuff for hotel management in cornell?
It’s my dream school and I am really worried about competing… ):

Don’t think grades and such hold as much of a weight for hotel school. Knowing how other people did will also not help you at this point.
