Cornell Housing - Postgraduate

Hi guys,

I'll be attending Cornell this fall for a 1 yr porstgrad degree. I am 25 yrs old and I was browsing through the housing options available at Cornell.

Can anyone currently in Cornell or has lived there before, provide some information on the best accomodation available? I was leaning towards an option with a more socialable environment rather than an isolated studio apartment. Do they have dorms for postgraduates and if so are they any good?

Appreciate your comments..

Thanks ;-)

most postgrads live in collegetown I think, you could look on craigslist for other postgrads that need apartmentmates. I don’t think many post grads live in campus housing, could be wrong though.

the grads who do live in campus housing are usually those with families…

and the ones who are single are usually put into schuyler house or are made Graduate Resident Fellows (kinda like RA for non-freshman/upperclassmen)

thanks for that. would you recommend living in Schuyler or rather opting for an apartment ?

most grad students who live in collegetown live in Collegetown Center, right in the heart of collegetown. they rental company actually advertises it as their graduate housing. really nice. good study environment (quiet inside) and huge rooms

definitely collegetown center. if you do on campus housing they will probably put you in hasbrouck apartments which are on north campus past all of the freshman dorms. They are filled mostly with families, and are very far away. Some grad students live near Ithaca commons which is a fun area full of restaurants etc, but its a 25 minute walk uphill to get to campus, so you would have to take the bus or have a car.

Check on Craigslist, I know plenty of grad students who have found people to live with that way!

Do you know any american people who are living on Cornell Univ Campus and are looking for a partner (only for the Fall Semester)?

Campus housing is usually assigned even if you want a roomate.

If you want to live on campus as a graduate student you should contact Cornell Housing office to see what options are available for you.
