having read through many threads, they all seemed to be academic when in reality, "ivy league" refers to a sprots league! therefore, i was just wondering at which sports does cornell excel most at?

is there a specific sport that cornell consistently does well in?

also, what do you think are the chances of representing cornell in the ivy league at varsity level if you applied normally? i'm not suggesting that normal applicants are no good at sports but are most of the sports team dominated by recruits?

Why has no one mentioned basketball yet? Cornell basketball has won the ivy league for the past two years, and is on track to come first for a third year.

everything mentioned above, and also gymnastics.

The Ivy League has rules that prohibit athletic recruiting. However, if you’re interested in playing a sport, contact the coach of the team and talk to them.

Cornell Gymnastics won the Ivy Classic the last 2 years and for the first time in school history won the USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championship! Recruiting does take place but no scholarships are given. Walk on athletes will have a hard time making the team. Coaches might give you a courtesy look but they already know who they want on the team. With budgets shrinking, they can’t afford to take extras.

The lacrosse team played for the NCAA National Championship this past May and lost in the last 5 seconds of regulation. They’ve been to the final four twice in the past three years. Cornell even held a special graduation ceremony for the seniors on the team because they were a little busy in Foxboro at the Final Four on the actual graduation day.

Recruits for the lacrosse team come from some of the best high school and prep school programs in the nation … and they have to be smart too!
