Cornell: Internet and campus-wide WiFi?

Does Cornell have free campus-wide WiFi access? If so, is it fast?

Are the internet access in dorms bandwidth capped? If so, how much per month?

Are we allowed to download music, via LimeWire, on campus?

Are we allowed to torrent movies on campus?

Thanks.

Yes it does, there is both a student one and a guest one, both are all over, i’m not sure if it’s everywhere on campus but most places…

I know my cousin got in trouble at cornell a few years ago because he was downloading stuff on campus. When you’re an upperclassmen you can just get a place in collegetown and get your own isp

i’m kind of wondering about the last two questions too, how strict is cornell on pirating and such. i’m afraid i will have to do all of my seeding at home

torrenting depends on what you torrent…MUSIC and MOVIES and other NEWLY RELEASED media is a NO NO!

stuff like anime and porn is ok…but there’s a 10gb limit (includes both up/download) so dont get happy…

there should be a filesharing network running on the cornell network (discreetly) for all your media needs

guess my torrenting days are over :[

i’d say i would go through 10gb in like 3 days

well you can always pay your 1.25-1.50 (not sure what the rate is now) per GB over 10gb…

Use DC++, guys: [Cornell DC++ Setup Guide](http://www.cornelldc.com/)

Also, since it’s within the Cornell network, basically no one’s going to catch you/get you in trouble and it doesn’t count toward your 10 gig limit.

it’ll be interesting to see how much longer dc++ lasts…
