Cornell interview tomorrow

I have a Cornell interview tomorrow and am a little nervous. It's not really an interview but basically I'm suppose to ask the alumni many questions that I have as well....EXCEPT my alumni graduated 50 years ago....I don't even see how one would remember their experiences from 50 years ago. Can anyone think of any questions I could possible ask him?

Thanks for the help!

Also, should I just wear a jacket and tie?..the interview is at the Cornell Club.

Since your interviewer is older and you are meeting at a place that sound more formal (is it?) I would wear a jacket and tie. Hard to get dressed up if you are too casual. Easy to dress down by taking off the tie if you feel overdressed.

Alums that graduated a long time ago, but are still involved have been keeping up with the school and what’s happening. And you can always talk about the weather in Ithaca. You could even ask how he thinks the school has changed since 1962 … and what he thinks of the tech campus in NYC.

The Cornell Club (in NYC) is really nice. Wear a jacket and tie.

I’m still confused about the dress now…its too cold outside to just wear a suit jacket and I don’t have an over coat or anything…I think I’ll wear a sweater over the tie and then a regular jacket and take the regular jacket off when I get inside.

And does anyone else have any questions I can ask? I really can’t think of anything but I don’t want the interview to last only 15 minutes.

Questions:
Ask about his major, how has the Cornell education helped him in his career/life, ask his view about the new Cornell tech campus, most memorable moment at Cornell, how has Cornell changed.

Tell him about yourself, what you would like to study, why Cornell. If you have visited Cornell, tell him what you did while you were in Ithaca(restaurant, professor, cafeteria).

Good luck. I am sure you will be fine. Your outfit should be fine. Yes, Cornell Club is nice.

Definitely a jacket and a tie if you are going to Cornell Club  Take off the jacket when you are inside should be okay. Good luck! and more importantly, have fun!

That’s interesting - most interviews are really low key. You’ll have an interesting time for sure. Just keep it cool and know that these interviews are more for you to learn about cornell than for acceptance.

So how did it go?

It was alright.
