What did they ask you?

My guy didn't ask me anything...I felt like I was interviewing him

Same here, the guy barely asked me anything except why I wanted to come to Cornell. And a few things like what I want to major in, what my interests are, etc. I asked him a lot about the school, it was really informal overall.

I have my interview tomorrow however I dont understand how it works. In the application it said they dont offer any. If this is just for information and dont end any rec to Cornell it wouldn't be any point in going right? Or do they write rec? PLease help.

That's because you are! :) These "interviews" are only for YOU to get more information about the school. It is completely optional and has no effect on your admission. At least that's what my contact told me in his email.

Actually, it depends what school you're applying to. I know my Hotel interview was on campus and very formal. Alumni is totally different.

Yeah, the guy actually told me it has nothing to do with admission lol

Unless your interview is required, don't worry about it. I didn't do an interview for Engineering ED and I was accepted. If an interview had any weight at all (for those schools where it is not mandatory) I probably wouldn't have been accepted since I didn't do the interview. You also have to realize that probably 95% of the interview reports that go back are positive and say that that applicant should be admitted. In my mind an informal interview could only hurt you b/c you might have been nervous and royally screwed up, otherwise every persons is good. So don't worry about it.

My guy didn't answer any of my questions. It was sort of a waste of time. The only thing he really knew about Cornell was how great the fraternity scene is.

wait, was i suppose to have an interview before i applied to cornell?

i should read threads

Alumni interview really has very little influence on the admissions decision. It's more of a chance for you to ask questions about Cornell and I guess for Cornell to recruit students? My interviewer said such wonderful stuff about Cornell and how much he loved it that afterwards, I started to seriously consider Cornell (esp. now, since I was deferred by my early, it looks like I will probably end up going to Cornell).
