i'm still recovering, that was by far the most intense game I've seen at Lynah yet...

and the Big Red basketball team beat Northwestern for its first victory over a Big 10 team in 40 years

a truly great day for Cornell sports...the Scorton Era gets off to a great start...

gomestar,

any fish?

wharf

wharf,

of course! Who do you think we are ;) The worst this year was a few cans of sardines that tend to scatter all over the ice, and then the liquid they were stored in freezes into a small brown layer - they had to come out with an ice scraper to get it out. Last year, the very end of the game saw two large squids (may have been some octopus).

The game was very high energy, Cornell came out hard, strong, and got on the board first, though harvard tied it up a few minutes later on the power play. Despite the shot differences (like 10-2 for harvard) in the second, none of their chances were really quality, though none were for cornell either. Too many penalties on Cornell's part was a big problem in the second.

Harvard took a 2-1 lead with 10 minutes left in the third on the powerplay. A large blow, though a lazer shot by Doug Krantz with 5 minutes left in the third tied the game - the crowd went crazy and the place was thumpin at this piont! Byron Bitz was called for tripping (I didn't see it - though i saw the incident, bad call) with three and a half left in the game, but the Red's penalty kill was solid the whole time. When the penalty ended, Kennedy came out to replace bitz and was spotted at center ice where he took a quick pass and then exploded past a few harvard players at center ice for a break away - he faked it to the right then put it over the goalie's pads with a minute and a half remaining ... everybody went absolutely crazy, there was even like this mach pit in section D with people flying all over the place celebrating. It was absolutely crazy!!

By far the most intense game I've seen at Lynah so far, lets bring it again for Dartmouth tonight.

Anybody see it on TV?

Gome -

great description...alas I didn't see it on TV - just periodically checking on the internet gametracker...went to bed thinking Cornell had lost...must have been one for the ages!!!

saw it on internet--could feel the intensity!

Now--no let down vs. a good Dartmouth team

and, btw, go catch a very good basketball team this year as well

well, we dropped the game to dartmouth 3-2

but, women's volleyball swept princeton to take the ivy league crown!!

Anybody who likes sports should make it a point to see a few hockey games at Cornell. They are among the best sporting contestst that exist anyplace, in one of the best ( for the home team) venues imaginable.

I agree! I've been to some crazy Syracuse basketball games, and even a Duke basketball game - though I must say nothing compares to a good Cornell hockey game.

gomestar! I was in that mosh pit! My hallmate jumped all over the people below us. It was hysterical. That game was ****ing incredible. Words fail to articulate the excitement at Lynah that night.
