is cornell really as stressful as it seems? or is the video lying?

yeah it's pretty stressful at times.

but I havn't gone out to a frat party in at least a year. They're usually pretty gross and scummy ... then again I don't need to search for a girl to hook up with every weekend (and nobody goes to frat parties for the beer selection). They're big an popular, but are far from the only things happening on campus.

Case in point, hockey game at 7 then the Italia festival on central campus after until late. Free food, *****es.

to me, that video is nothing like cornell. at least the cornell i know. people don't look like that. people don't talk like that. the weather does not look like that, and people don't just sunbathe and drink at frat parties all the time.

I didn't think that the video was so off. Lots of people do sunbathe and hang out outside when the weather's nice (which is pretty rare, I'll admit.) Frat parties are a big deal...there's no denying that. But there's plenty of other stuff to do, like gomestar said.

As for stress, I don't think it's much worse than high school. The only times I get stressed is if I fall behind on my reading or if a prelim/final is coming up. As long as you stay on top of things and don't get competitive with other people, you should be fine. Maintaining a balance between work and fun is key.

Umm.. what is wrong with that site, bragging about pot and underage drinking on behalf on the school?

Just freedom of speech, as misplaced as it might be. Everyone who does something and hangs around with those who do so convinces themselves that "everyone does it." You might have heard that if you were ever a parent of a teenager, and you might just have said it yourself.

I am also certain, by the way, that no freshman, sophomore or junior Bulldog in Athens has ever had a beer, or sipped a Jack Daniel's.

"I am also certain, by the way, that no freshman, sophomore or junior Bulldog in Athens has ever had a beer, or sipped a Jack Daniel's."

Is that supposed to be sarcastic?

Golly, I thought that was quite clearly sarcastic. I am surprised you might have missed it.

the frat parties aren't fun ppl are just to drunk to notice how lame they are. If ur not a drinker then frat parties would totally suck for u. And its only a small percentage of the ppl in the school are into hockey. But i guess at a school like cornell a small percent would be a lot of ppl lol

AHAHAHA...wow, that's hilarious. Who the ***** did they ask about Cornell. The last time I saw green grass was in October, and the last time I wore shorts outside for an extended period of time was also around October or November. And most people do not go to a frat party every night from Thursday to Sunday. Even the hardest drinkers have nights off. There is so much more to do than just drink and smoke...wow...that was insulting, making us seem like a generic state school.

"And most people do not go to a frat party every night from Thursday to Sunday."

No, actually many people do...

but not that many

really? well, maybe it's only the hotelies and AEM majors. ;) I'm just saying that people in my hall, mews don't go partying every night from thursday to sunday, and we have the highest rate of medical amnesties and JA's than any other dorm, and my hall in particular is pretty bad as well. Although there may not be that much of a correlation between partying a lot and getting in trouble for it, I still haven't met that many people going to frat parties on sunday nights, actually, I don't think I've ever known of any frat parties on sunday night.

Ya Sunday sounds a little farfetched...

there are definitely not 2-3 frat parties every night. brothers have GPAs too. but i agree that greek life is the primary source of entertainmnet for freshmen and sophomores.

seriuosly though, just bc some ppl go drink and party thursday-sunday doesnt mean EVERYBODY does. i know plenty of people who dont...

im not going to lie...cornell IS stressful. theres no way around it. so if you have low stress-tolerance or ridiculously abysmal time management skills, for your sake, dont come to cornell.

During the first semester, there are always 1-2 parties on Thursday nights and 3+ parties every Friday and Saturday night. They are all open. During second semester there is only 1 or 2 open parties every weekend night but many mixers.

but there all soo lame. If ur into the club scene don't expect good DJs

why has theU.com become so popular? I think Brown is the ivy for partying.

We mean partying with beer, not pot. lol jp, much love for Brown.
