What is the likelihood of Cornell being kicked out of the Ivy League? Surely that is near impossible right?

Cornell won’t be kicked out of the Ivy League. And it won’t leave voluntarily, regardless of the delusions of a “Cornell Fan.”

Oh my god, shut up! These threads are so annoying!

I heard it’s not a “real ivy” what does this mean

Cornell’s stats would be on par if we did not have all the specialty schools. It doesn’t matter since they are often among the best in their fields.

that is a satire website, and that is a satirical article

please don’t be so oblivious

Wow. Sorry, but Cornell isn’t in any more or less danger of getting kicked out of the Ivy League than Harvard is…

It’s been stated a million times, but I’ll do it again. There are two definite tiers to the Ivy League: Harvard, Princeton, and Yale then everyone else.

The average person will be more impressed if you attend HYP, that’s not debatable. But any idiot claiming Cornell isn’t deserving of the Ivy League moniker or somehow isn’t an elite school with a mostly elite student body is a moron (and most likely a Columbia, Penn, or Dartmouth student). Anyone outside the Ivy League isn’t really aware of the distinction between the schools, save possibly HYP being the best “brand-names”. Only people within the Ivy League split hairs concerning the relative strengths of the schools.

Yes, Cornell kick out of Ivy, but only because it kicks the Ivy’s a$$. Cornell should create its own league because HYP bring down its reputation while HYP simultaneously leech off of Cornell’s prestige.

It’s a ****ing sports league. My God.

i agree with theslowclap…

cornell should stand on it’s own league…

let’s let this die. lol

because it was posted in the cornell forum

The ivygate article is irrelevant. The “Cornell Fan” and his article is what/who matters, and what is being responded to. Duh.

This.

Is.

RIDICULOUS.

Get a hold of yourselves! Who cares if Cornell is less “prestigious”? God!

And, seriously, this is about the 5,000,000th time I’ve seen this sort of thread. It’s getting old.

If one was to kick Cornell out of the Ivy league, what would be a realistic replacement? Keeping in mind that the Ivy league is first and foremost an athletic league there are a number of constraints that would make it difficult to replace Cornell in the Ivy league. Any replacement would have to meet the following conditions to be acceptable.

Field Division 1 Athletic teams in all or most of the sports offered by the NCAA including Hockey, Lacrosse and be reasonably competative with the current Ivies without the use of athletic scholorships or low end “ringer” students).

Have the endowment and desire to grant admissions on a need blind basis and then grant full financial aid to all those in need.

Be within an 8 hour bus ride of any of the other Ivies, since the Ivies have modest athletic budgets and prefer to use money for extra sports and not airplane trips like the Pac 10.

Have a higher rank in USnews, Higher average SAT’s and a lower admissions percentage than Cornell ( why would you replace Cornell if the replacement wasn’t better).

Have at least as many students as Dartmouth as a smaller school would not have the academic range or number of students to be a real ivy.

Have a long and glorius history with a record of producing statesman, inventors, writers, athletes, businessmen and thinkers that rivels that of Cornell or the other Ivies. For the Ivies are not about the ephemeral or the trendy but about tradition and the long run.

I literally lol-ed at IHATECEREAL’s comment (and I am going to Cornell)… :)

one thing I find really frustrating about everyone on collegeconfidential (bar myself, of course) is that they take the inter-college competition WAY too seriously. who actually cares if Cornell is in the ivy or not. who cares if it’s not as good as the others. It’s an awesome school regardless.

love shermanbus83’s comment. i totally agree :)

Yea, most of these people worried about image of their schools are freshman, or even worse, prefreshmen. Once they get on campus and realize college is for studying and not US Ranking comparisons, they wake up and realize how immature they are.

Nah 3 tiers: HYP, Penn/Columbia, and the other 3
