I bought a mini fridge on my own because I thought it was ridiculous to RENT one for $149 just for a semester. So the salesman at the store told me it would be around 1.5 amps to run and SHOULD BE under 7.3 amps to start considering the amps to run. Also, the manual inside does not tell you any type of amp-age used and the salesman was going from the back of the fridge, which says (I think) 115 watts. I'm not blaming the salesman, as he did a good job trying to help me find the amps used. However, I e-mailed the company and they told me it uses 1.3 amps to run and 8 amps to start...just my luck.
I am just wondering if anyone knows how strict Cornell is on their mini fridge amp rule? Do they check the fridge at any time?
Also, originally on Cornell's website, they said if you bring a mini fridge from home, it would have to be under 3.3 amps to start, which is ridiculous because there are hardly any that do AND the microwave/fridge you can rent from them has 7.3 amps to start. So, I e-mailed them about that and they corrected it - which in my mind leads me to believe that they aren't strict on the mini fridge rule ...though maybe that's changed since I called them out on it, hah.
Anyway, I just want to know if they check your fridge upon move-in or during inspections and if they do find out about it's wattage, what will they do?

P.S. the fridge I have is an Avanti model# RM3361B
Thanks
