Hi, I saw on wikipedia(sorry) that cornell is actually need-blind towards internationals. Is this true? It doesnt really cite a specific source and I sorta skimmed through the Cornell admissions site and it doesn't say it is need-blind towards internationals. Hmm someone please clarify this for me, and how bracing cornell is towards internationals requiring FA. And please don't kill me for even clicking on wikipedia..i do admit it is quite useful..at times :)

It's need-blind. With the caveat being that it gives pitiful FA to internationals so only the rich apply anyways.

You'd be surprised at how factual Wikipedia can be. There are so many people cross checking things that it's gotten really hard to post anything wrong on it. To check for myself once, I tried making an account and changing some very small details on a few pages. Within seconds, they were all changed back and my account was disabled.

"Citizens and permanent residents of the United States and Canada, and citizens of Mexico are eligible for consideration for the financial aid and financing options described on the Financial Aid Web site. Cornell University maintains only a very limited program of financial assistance for international students who are not citizens or permanent residents of the United States, Canada, or Mexico. Those who do receive funds have exceptional credentials and demonstrate financial need. This information is not intended to discourage you from applying, but to give you a realistic understanding of the nuances for receiving financial aid to attend Cornell." - ... this means either "Need Aware" for international students except Canadians and Mexicans or very limited financial resource for international students.

I read on some other thread that they are need-blind at admissions, meaning that they don't look if you can pay or not, but they just don't tend to give lots of aid to internationals.
So... even if you get admitted, would you be able to afford it? o,O

@niceshrp: I think that’s outdated. Canadians and Mexicans are now considered Internationals.

Where did you get that from?

This thread is from 2008, LOLHere.
