Dartmouth is my first choice and Cornell is my second choice, tied with Georgetown.
I know I am not gauranteed admission at either Dartmouth, Cornell, or Georgetown. I want to apply EA at Georgetown, but also want to apply ED at either Cornell or Dartmouth. I know at Cornell, ED makes a significant difference. But, I really want to go to Dartmouth. I would go to Dartmouth over Georgetown, but not Cornell over Georgetown necessarily. Dartmouth is harder either way(ED or RD).
Should I apply ED to Cornell, but then have to not go to Georgetown and have to go to Cornell? Or, should I apply ED to Dartmouth risking not geting into Dartmouth, Cornell, or Georgetown?

If you are definitely sure about Dartmouth, then apply for early decision there. My friend, who is a senior in high school 06-07, applied there for early decision and was accepted. Early decision makes a big difference for all the Ivies; their acceptance rates are significantly higher for early decision than regular.

Also, I would pick Cornell over Georgetown any day, but that is just me. I like Cornell better, and math and science are Cornell's forte where as Georgetown is good for English, History, and stuff like that. Dartmouth is a very well-rounded school, so if you haven't decided on what you want to do, then that is also good for Dartmouth since it is a great place to find out.

I want to become a doctor and an engineer (don't comment on how hard that'll be) so Cornell is the best of both worlds there.

Also, don't compare acceptance rates across the Ivies because all the Ivies are so different. Dartmouth is the smallest Ivy while Cornell is the biggest. By no means is getting into Cornell easy, but because they are the biggest, you may have a better chance. However, by the same token, Dartmouth does not get anywhere close to as many applicants as Cornell does. So, the relationship between Cornell and Dartmouth acceptances may just be proportional.

Georgetown's EA is restrictive- you can't apply to an ED school.

"I like Cornell better, and math and science are Cornell's forte where as Georgetown is good for English, History, and stuff like that."

Quite true. Except that Cornell's English and History are also ones of the best in the nation, probably far ahead of Georgetown in terms of faculty research and reputation. Cornell's literary criticism, especially, is top 3.

Apply Dartmouth ED because it's obvious u want to go there. Apply RD to Cornell and Georgetown if Dartmouth doesn't work out or if u get deferred. It'll work out if u show how u reallllly wanna go to Dartmouth in ur essays and if ur grades r good. GL!!!
