Duke for BME, Cornell for everything else.

Additionally, there is a non-trivial difference in student culture between Duke and Cornell. Cornell is a larger and more heterogeneous place. Visit both and decide which feels more comfortable to you.

It is said around here that Duke’s engineering programs are more theoretical, less hands-on. People say that it isn’t as strong as it at other places in the mid-Atlantic. That being said, Cornell has more fields to choose from (I don’t think Duke has some of the major fields available - like maybe chemical - check and see.) Cornell has extensive research opportunities in all fields - and there are many. Cornell is more hands-on. I agree - go look at both yourself and figure what works for you.
