Cornell or high school?

Hello guys! I just found out that I got accepted into Cornell from the wait-list! I am very excited about it!
But now I have a rather tough decision to make: should go to Cornell or finish high school?
My situation is a little bit different from that of many other people.
I applied this year as a junior, then I got wait-listed, and now I got in.

What do you think?

Thanks!

i'd say give Cornell a shot - high school doesn't matter unless you went to a top private

i'd say if u can get an extension...like guaranteed deferment then finish high school...unless you hate your 'mates...

I'm curious as to how that works...If it's too complicated or personal, that's fine. This is indeed a tough choice. There are certainly pros and cons to another year of high school. I'd base your decision on how much you want to go to Cornell. Do you know what you want to study? Do you think you're ready for the next step? Other questions to consider. Is senior year of high school (prom, graduation, etc.) not that important? What about your HS friends? Do you think you could get into Cornell again next year? Remember that applicant pools are getting stronger and more competitive every year.

thanks a lot tun. These are indeed things I need to think about...
I love biology, especially genetics/molecular biology.
So do you think that Cornell is the right choice for me?

So I assume you got into Arts and Sciences? How academically prepared are you for biology? Did you take AP Bio in high school?

Actually, I got into CALS, because of their programs in life sciences.
yeah, I took AP bio last year and got a five. I really love biology.

I would choose Cornell over high school. You may not get in next year considering that the number of applicants wil increase again. Then again, you might get in again since you'll have an extra year to build on your application.

Yeah, I would definitely go to Cornell if not for financial reasons (I just found out about that a while ago).

oh i'm sorry...cornell isnt the only good bio program...

About the problem with getting in next year: I'm fairly sure most colleges offer an option to defer enrollment for one year, and I'd bet in your situation they wouldn't hassle you if you decided to stay in HS for your senior year. Give them a call and see.

Cornell's bio program is one of the strongest in the ivy. Cornell science is generally considered better than most of the other ivies.

if cornell's your top choice then why wait?

good luck. i'd forget senior yr && go ---> Cornell

Well I think that it completely depends on the person... I don't think anyone here would really be able to tell you what to do, so I'm surprised at the number of people who are telling you to go to Cornell.

For most people, I think it would be wiser to stick with high school.. social/emotional/intellectual maturity, etc.

Your academics must be spectacular if Cornell decided to take a chance on a junior... so if you complete senior year then I'm sure you can get into even better schools?

Did you apply on a whim or did you apply with serious intentions to skip a year of high school?

well do you think you'd be good enough to get into hyp next year?

I was very serious when I applied to Cornell. I truly believe that I am ready for college. Besides, Cornell has a great biology program--something absolutely love.

My primary problem right now is actually getting financial aid. Because I am an international student, Cornell didn't give me any financial aid, it would be impossible for our family to afford Cornell just by ourselves.

Any suggestions about what I could do to get some funding?

Thanx a lot guys!

Have you called the financial aid office?

Considering that you're living in the US. Is it possible for you to obtain PR by next year?

I'd say if you can get an extension on that decision, do senior year.

With college out of the way, it's easy coasting all the way. And senior year is by far the best and most enjoyable year in high school. Try new stuff you didn't have time for before like A-Capella, theater, jazz band, whatever. have fun!
