Cornell or JHU?

Not sure whether to choose Cornell or Johns Hopkins(BME). I guess it would have to be based on aid. IF I choose Hopkins, I fear for the high pressure enviornment and lack of social life. Is this valid?

Come and visit. And no its not that bad.

JHU's BME is supposed to be all that, so I'd go JHU if I were you.

I have posted this a few times already...but feel it is the perfect response to these posts on choosing one school versus another --

The best advice I can add is to take the time (if possible) and visit the campuses. Walk around and see if you can see yourself there for four years. Speak with the current students and see if these are the people you want to live and debate with for four years. Meet the faculty and question whether or not these are the people you want to learn from. ETC....

There are a lot of similarities of the schools you are looking into, and also big differences (beyond just location). To learn more about Hopkins I really encourage you to check out the JHU message boards (http://messageboard.chatuniversity.com/jhuboard/) and our student blogs (http://hopkins.typepad.com/julia/).

Invest time in this process and you will make the right decision. Obviously money always plays a factor and you should continue to have that discussion with your parents. But in the end don't rely just on the comments of some anonymous message board -- check out the school's websites, visit the campuses, and in the end you will make the RIGHT decision.

Best of luck.

[[[And oh yeah, as an aside -- aren't JHU and Cornell tied in the US News rankings this year? Well then clearly they are the same school so it doesn't matter where you go. Sorry, I always love a way to get a jab in on those stupid ranking.]]]
