Cornell or Northwestern ED?

I am having a tough time deciding between whether to apply ED to Cornell or Northwestern. I like both schools equally and both have high rankings in the major I am interested in. Which do you think I would have a better chance at getting into and which would offer me more aid? Aid is not an issue but money is always nice.

-SAT: 2110; 740M, 760W, 610CR
-ACT: 34, 10 on writing
-GPA: 3.8 unweighted, 4.2 Weighted
-Will have taken 10 AP Courses by senior year, expect 4/5 on most if not all

SAT Subject:
Biology (m)= 800
Chemistry= 720
Math II: 760
Extra Curriculars:
-worked on research for 2 years as of senior year at Rutgers U with professor
-4 years of varsity track + xc
-200+ volunteer hours around the community
-300+ volunteer hours at local hospitals
-100+ volunteer hours as coach
-4x honor roll by senior year
-National Honor Society, Math Honor Society, Science Honor Society
-2 years of honors band

AP Tests:
we are not allowed to take AP classes until junior year, so no scores yet

Location: East Coast
Race: Indian
Income: Middle Class

Whichever you apply ED, they’ll be kind of high matches, but more like low reaches. In the regular decision round, They’ll be low to mid reach.

Would either have a higher chance than the other? I am interested in the Chemical Engineering programs…if that makes a difference.

I’m actually surprised you like both at the same level. They’re very different schools. Look into the qualities of each rather than prestige. That’ll help you decide.

Ok thanks, I appreciate the input.

Sure! If you’d like any help, let me know! Feel free to message me if you need help.

Are you male or female?

Don’t send the SAT score.

Where does your GPA place you in your class ranking? I realize few schools rank but assume you can estimate rank from your school profile.

I’d choose Northwestern. You’re from the East, so why not branch out to the Midwest (assuming all else is equal). Chicago is a wonderful and vibrant city, and Ithaca won’t be as exciting. Also, Cornell gets more students submitting the SAT, and Northwestern more the ACT, so if you intend to submit your ACT, I’d go with Northwestern. (I know that there’s not “official” SAT vs. ACT discrimination, but who knows?)

FWIW, unless something’s changed, Cornell does not consider CR scores.

Excuse me, I meant Writing scores, big difference, does not help you…

“Never Mind…”

Thanks I appreciate all of this feedback I am getting. Ideally, I would like to go to medical school…would either of these universities better prepare me to take the MCAT or offer a better GPA in terms of grade inflation/deflation?

@CT1417‌ I am male ranked top 15% but not sure…school doesn’t officially rank. I think I wouldn’t be any lower than that
