Okay so i know it's getting late for this but i really need some help. (im posting this on the cornell board too to see what they say) Although I wasnt accepted, I was waitlisted at cornell and im trying to decide if i should set my heart on cornell and do my best to try to get off the waitlist... and then if i do go there or stick with UMD. I was admitted into the UMD honors program with the presidental scholarship for 2k. My major is probably going to be either bio or chem at UMD or just bio at cornell (pre-med route). As for cost, i applied to the state part of cornell (cause im from nys) so umd and cornell are basically equal in cost. My fears about cornell include the pressure and stress as well as its kind of in the middle of nowhere and consequently would be hard to get home (whereas from collegepark i could just take the metro and a quick flight back home) plus... it's cold. But then again, it's an amazing school, has the prestige and i feel like socially i would fit in really well. Please give me some input (saying that i get into cornell... what should i do)! Thanks so much!

I would ask this same thing in the cornell thread. I mean you know that cornell is better than UMD but you don't know the social aspect and the amount of stress. Ask some kids that go there in the cornell part of the site. If both schools are equal in cost i would think cornell would be the one to go to but everyone is different, you may be more or less comfortable going far away than me. I would head on out to cornell, i think.

Didn't lindz say 90% of students in honors go to med school or something like that? Also know that undergrad doesn't really matter for pre-med. A lot of people on this site say go to where you think you will be active and will enjoy life. Being active is really important so check out clubs and such at both schools.

Post this up in the cornell thread and the pre-med thread and possibly the selection thread.

Good luck :D

yeah, 92% i believe; and the average med school acceptance rate for the country is approximately 45%.

thank you guys so much for your help and those stats!
