So May 1st is coming up and I need to decide...
I got into the College of Human Ecology at Cornell, and I'm out of state (NJ) for W&M.
Just want to hear some thoughts & opinions from you guys...

Have you visited both schools, I hope? Very, very different except both have a study body of smart, focused students. Daughter attended W & M (OOS-NY) and had a wonderful experience. Cornell would have been WAY too big for her. I personally think that Cornell’s biggest plus is the diversity of programs and students. Another daughter was accepted to Cornell and would have done well but followed scholarship $.

have you visited W&M? You should visit. (You should visit Cornell too)

Thanks for the input!

I’m visiting both this week for the first time haha
This is going to be hard to choose… aah

My d chose W & M over Cornell (ALS) way back in 2001. Her main reasons were that Cornell was too close to home, and that she knew quite a number of students there from her high school, which is a (kind of) feeder school. When she touched base with her Cornell friends after the first year at their respective schools, she felt that Cornell would not have been the best fit for her because of how large the student body is. Several friends told her that they struggled to find a niche there (though all eventually did). One advantage of Cornell over W & M is that people in the northeast, and certainly in NY, are more aware of the Cornell name than they are of W & M. In either case, you’re certain to get a great education, have outstanding professors, and find many opportunities. Congrats on having such a fine choice!

Sounds like you have some great choices and likely can’t go wrong with either. We would advise you to visit both campuses and see what your gut tells you. It sounds like you were admitted into a specific program at Cornell whereas W&M is more liberal arts and the curriculum is fairly unrestricted so that might be a consideration for you.

W&M’s Day for Admitted Students is April 17 ([William & Mary - Day for Admitted Students: April 17, 2010 (9:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.)](http://www.wm.edu/admission/dfas)) so you may want to consider visiting to get a better sense of all the opportunities at W&M.

Thanks for the input
I’m coming to W&M on the 17th! and just visited Cornell today
I still have to wait for Financial Aid information from W&M… but other than that, I don’t see any major downsides to either school

Decisions! We’ll see what happens
