I’m not sure if it makes sense. But what it means is, if difference in the annual EFC was that much, I would pick that one. Difference any greater than that, I will have to rethink. The family contribution still varies from school to school. So this comparison should make sense after all. Name (which included campus location and atmosphere as well as reputation) and cost were the two most important factors for us.

I think UPenn is underestimated from an objective view…

For example it it was Arts and Science, UPenn’s better?

I maintain that unless someone is really stellar (think Math 55 level competency), their undergrad education is going to be pretty uniform at the top 20 school level.
The variation will be in

1.Location (New Haven vs. Ithaca vs. Cambridge etc), campus (Cornell sprawl (love it) vs. Dartmouth enclave)

Student Body (Yale-so far to the left it’s hanging off vs. Cornell - like Rule 34, but for political ideology)

1,2,3 don’t determine your education/success but they do determine how well ‘fitted’ you’ll feel.

But then again, if I knew jack about college admissions, I probably wouldn’t be on the
BIG RED WAITLIST
