Cornell + other suggestions?

Hey all, I'm a 2nd year at UVa looking to transfer to Cornell's college of human ecology for policy analysis and management. I'm also applying to the McIntire school here at UVa, but I'm really looking to transfer out.

So does anyone have any good suggestions for a good business school in the northeast? I'm thinking of possibly applying to Syracuse and U of Rochester, but I know they're not as strong of schools as Cornell or UVa.

**Also, I know PAM isn't Cornell's business program, but that's what I'm interested in there. For other schools I'm looking to study business.

Also, here are my stats, if anyone would love to chance me for Cornell.
High School
-96.5 unweighted average
-Ranked 5/~450
-SATs - 1480/2120 (730 math, 750 verbal, 640 writing)
-SATII's: Chem - 720, Math level 2 - 740, U.S. history - 790
-5's on the AP BC Calc, AP American Hist., AP European Hist., AP World Hist., AP Chem, and AP Environmental Science
-Activities - baseball (team won states), VP of Senior Class, NHS

College
-3.3 GPA first semester (took 1 300 level, 3 200 level classes, and 1 100 level)
-3.72 GPA 2nd semester (2 100 level classes, 2 200 level classes, 1 high 100 level class)
-3.58 GPA 3rd semester (2 100 level classes, 2 200 level, 1 300)
Cumulative college GPA is 3.52.
-Activities - various business related things (McIntire Investment Institute, stock analysis competitions) and the Roosevelt Institution (public policy student thinktank). I will most likely be working next semester as well.

Thanks for any help

I’m applying to HumEc for PAM as well! Just curious, what don’t you like about AEM? Cornell’s undergrad business is ranked 4th best in the country…it’s not agribusiness if that’s what you’re thinking. Anyway you’re stats look really good, your college gpa is kinda low for ivies, but i’ve heard of people getting in with 3.5ish gpa’s.
HumEc is all about fit, they really want to know specifically how your EC’s tie in with your major and all that, so talk about it in your essay. your ec’s all look really good for PAM btw. also, I know Syracuse doesn’t seem as competitive as Cornell and UVA, but it has a top program in public policy, so it will probably be competitive. good luck :)

at this point your hs stats are of minimal importance, your college performance will be the biggest factor in admissions

perhaps look at bc, fordham, babson, u mich ross if you dont mind going to the midwest

Hey star, glad to see someone else doing the same as me. As for AEM, it’s not so much that I don’t like the program, I just feel that PAM caters slightly more to my interests. If the PAM program didn’t exist, then I would most likely be applying for AEM.

Duffle: Thanks for the suggestions, I’ll check out those schools although I’m looking to stay more in the NE area (I’m from NY) so I’m not too interested in UMich.

Anyone else have any more suggestions?

your high school stats are good…but i can’t really say the same for your college stats. i was rejected with a 3.8 and honors…so i’d definitely say it’s a reach to a somewhat high reach.

Rochester
Emory
BC
Mendoza
Smeal

Mendoza and Smeal don’t even take external transfers.

Oh really? Sorry I had no idea that this was the case! I was making suggestions based on test scores and grades, I apologize NYYanks65.

It’s not a big deal, I just remember looking into both at some point and seeing that. Don’t know why that is the policy though.
