Cornell Overnight Visits

I'm extremely interested in attending Cornell (I'm applying ED to Human Ecology) and I was wondering if and how I could go about scheduling an overnight visit for the fall?
It would be SO amazing to stay overnight in someone's dorm at Cornell and see what Cornell life is truly like.

my info may be a bit dated, as my kid just graduated, but check out --

-Red Carpet Society. Group on campus that pairs you up with a current student and allows you to stay overnight in dorm. Does not include any transportation to and from Ithaca. They had opened up site in Sept. (?) for kids to sign up to do overnight.

check with alumni group in your area. I know Long Island alum have sponsored a bus from LI to Cornell and made arrangements for kids to also stay overnight in dorm.
do a little research, but the opportunity to do an overnight at Cornell is there.
good luck!

I just checked out Red Carpet Society on cornell site. Looks like they will start taking requests for overnite stay on 9/8.

thanks a lot!
Is there an official overnight stay thing that Cornell sponsors? Because I've seen some colleges that do that.

Red carpet is the official overnight stay. You sign up for it through the cornell website/ red carpet society.

Thank you so much!
I'll be sure to look into that.

you should know that the overnight visits are limited to one night of being hosted by the red carpet society, so that if you would like to go up on a Friday and stay until Sunday, or go on a Thursday to take Friday classes and stay a few days, you should try to find someone from your area who could host you or get a friend to host you - most older school-mates would not mind doing this, but you need to ask them ahead of time so they and you can plan around it - or go and stay with a red carpet member for the one night and a friend for the other...

If you're 18 you can stay in a hotel in the area. I went to Cornell days for 2 nights. I signed up for a host for one night but kept a hotel reservation for 2 nights just in case. I ended up canceling the host and staying on my own because I didnt want to be dependent on someone and this way I could go out as late as I wanted and do whatever I wanted.

Yeah... not 18 until well after admissions decisions come out.
But I'm sure staying in someone's dorm will be fun.

i have a friend on the board for red carpet society and she hosted a LOT of pre-frosh last semester. A lot of them seemed to enjoy it. The only problem is that a lot of hosts (like her) were unwillingly to go out to parties with them (which is totally not allowed by the red carpet society). But if you get a cool person like me I don't give a ****. However, I'm not part of the red carpet society because I hate living with others. :P

If the red carpet society knew a member was taking their visitors out to parties they would, needless to say, not allow that member to host very much longer.

dont want to advertise here...but i'm sure i can put a sleeping bag on the floor...

PM me for details..

How do I set up something with the Red Carpet Society?
And too bad about the parties...
But I'm sure it'll be fun just chilling with cool people and seeing what Cornell is all about.
Finished my Cornell essays!

I believe Marny1 answered that question above.

Quite true.
The Cornell forums are kind of dying compared to the "College Admission" forum.
:(
Does 2013 look like an even more competitive year than 2012 was?

For $50 you can sleep on my floor and have access to my mini fridge.

That's a good deal

Rofl.

I think I'll pass.

But thanks for the witty sarcasm, it sure woke me up while sitting at my tremendously dull job.

I'll do it for $45

here's a better deal...

i'll scratch your back if you scratch mine ;)

Having seen superbad and knowing that your gay...

Well I don't think I would take you up on that offer.

And Chandler, I wasn't being (entirely) sarcastic.

woah...what hostility...

i have not seen superbad...

and i posted #18 b/c with all those $$$ offers being thrown out it sounded like a damn dinner date bid...
