In respect to the other Ivy Leagues, does Cornell have a "Party school" reputation? Do Cornellians like to party more than the rest of the IL's?

no party school is Dartmouth (underage drinker breeding ground). Cornell is solid second according to my interviewer who boasted about being wasted as a freshman (lol after that, I’m not going even if admitted cuz that ruined the image of the school for me)

They do, but Dartmouth is the biggest party school by reputation. That’s why D’s mascot is Keggy the keg :P

I have a friend at Cornell, and the party scene is certainly there. They probably do party more than most of the Ivies, with the exception of Dartmouth.

^ uhhhh…

cornell is huge…and has the biggest frat system in the ivy league…

not sure if we party more…but we party in the usual college way…

i loooove parties!

It’s an ivy league school. It’s probably not even close to being a party school. Maybe in comparison to like MIT or Harvard. If you don’t go to an Ivy because of the “partying” reputation you are really, for a lack of a better word, stupid. Seriously necrophiliac, you thought Cornell was too much of a party school?

does anyone else think it’s really funny that someone named “Necrophiliac” was turned off to Cornell because of the Greek scene? hahah…sounds like U Chicago might be a better fit :p

also i love making this face :p

lol, of course, he couldn’t attend a school that’s parties weren’t intellectual discussions over snifters of brandy by the fire.

get real people, this is college, and all colleges, including the Ivy League, are inundated with drunken frat boy types of students.

There is no alcohol within a 50 mile radius of Cornell. Go away. We are studious and intellectual students.

YOUR NAME IS NECROPHILIAC!!! how in the world do u not like to party?!? lmao

I don’t think Cornellians as a whole like to party any more or less than students at other ivies. There is a fairly large party scene here, but it really isn’t anything compared to those at many state schools.

Cornell’s student body is large enough that you can make it whatever you want it to be. I used to stay in and study with a group of friends every Friday night as a freshman; I was almost completely oblivious to the party scene. But if you’re into that sort of thing, you certainly won’t have any problem finding people to party with, either.

Frat parties suck anyway. House parties are where it’s at, and Collegetown has a sick party scene.

i dont like all of these debates about “is X university a party school?” EVERY UNIVERSITY IS A “PARTY” SCHOOL. if you want a party, there WILL be a party. if you dont want a party, you can find something else to do. simple as that. HARVARD is a party school. WVU is a party school.

Will I become an addict if I go to Cornell??? I’m nervous now! It sounds real hardcore.

^seriously? no

Are you sure? This thread is making me nervous. I thought Cornell was about the academics and not the illicit drug scene and partying atmosphere?

Yes Absolutely! ^^^

As soon as you walk in, weed will infest your nostrils and you will automatically want more. And when you drink water from the lakes you will immediately become an alcoholic. furthermore, you will sleep in your bad and nicotine patches will be placed on you as you sleep so in the morning you will crave for more…

Ever heard the saying, “College is what you make of it.”?

I thought Cornell was about the illicit drug scene and partying atmosphere and not the academics. I know that’s sure as hell why I attended.

Yes, yes you will. Cornell is real hardcore.

OH MY GOD! I’m so sad now! I thought Cornell was my number 1 but now that I’ve read these last two posts from two people who go there, I think I’m going to rethink! I don’t want to use nicotine patches! I heard they have really adverse side effects! ): I can’t believe this is all true.
