Hi

I am a Japanese American student in a highly competitive school in Rhode Island. I am trying to figure out which ED school to apply to, and what my chances are. I've narrowed it down to Cornell ED, Penn ED and Columbia ED. However, my grades aren't the best....

Anyway, here I am!

School doesn't rank.
Yeah.... I know.

EC's
I have decent EC's. Most are math and science based (I medalled at SciOly nationals my sophomore year). I have officerships in both science and humanities-based clubs. I'm taking an undergraduate course at Brown, but I don't think I'm applying there ED. :P

I am CRAZY about both French and chemistry (kinda weird, I know). However, I exhausted my school's math curriculum before junior year, completing linear algebra and multivariant calculus.

Potential Hook
I did computer science research with a professor at Cornell. I got a pretty stellar rec from him. This might help for Cornell, I'm guessing?

Cornell Pros and Cons
Cornell is a great school and the food is absolutely delicious. However, I am not a great fan of the cold. So, I wouldn't mind going there, but the climate would probably annoy me. Considering the admissions rate, I would probably have the best shot at Cornell.

Columbia Pros and Cons
I LOVE NYC. Columbia's dual BA program is also very attractive for someone interested in both science and the humanities. I would love to go to Columbia, but am hesitant about applying there, considering my poor chances of acceptance.

Penn Pros and Cons
Philly is a nice place, and the climate is definitely gentler than that of Cornell's. I have a better chance of getting into Penn than Columbia, and I really like urban campuses. Penn's undergraduate course offerings are, of course, nothing to scoff at. Once again, however, I am afraid that if I apply to Penn, I will have wasted my ED boost.

So what do you guys, think? I honestly would be okay with any one of these schools, but understand that for someone in as shaky an academic position as me, admissions chances need to play a larger factor in my decision than personal preferences. Thanks for your help, guys!
