I wanted to find some Cornell napkins, plates, etc for a graduation party. The bookstore has none and doesn't plan to get any in. I googled it and came up empty. Any ideas on where I could find some paper/plastic products with Cornell on it?

I have been running Cornell events for a long time as an alum and I’ve never come across them. You may be able to print them on your own (just don’t tell Cornell, as you need permission to use any logo).

^I think you missed the part that said they’re for a graduation party… not regular use. but good job on picking a random thread to make yourself feel better about going to columbia and the ivy league.

And I also don’t think you will find Cornell plates or anything like that for a graduation party. Just use some “Carnelian” and white decorations. White plates, red napkins?

Why would the type of plates make a difference? Its just to show off the name, just like wearing a bumper sticker on the back of a car. With columbia- I was trying to make a point by saying no one’s going ape ***** over getting into an ivy. (I can understand a graduation party, but having plates that say cornell? Common…)

I agree. Cornell plates/napkins/etc. takes it a little too far. I think somni’s idea - white plates, red napkins - is pretty inspired (not to mention easy to put together). It’s subtle enough to pass on the message without screaming I’m-going-to-Cornell into anyone’s face. Meanwhile somni, I don’t think Ones is showing off the fact that he’s going to an Ivy. And even if he was, the boards of another Ivy are a pretty odd place to do it.

red and white it is! Some balloons would be fun. Most people I know don’t even know that Cornell is an Ivy league school–they have heard of it becuase of the vet school. We live out in the middle of the country and few kids here ever even go east to go to college.

But many of the graduation parties I have been to, they have plates and napkins for the school, and many of those are state schools or schools with big athletic programs.

Not trying to be elitist or anything, sheesh, just trying to show some school spirit and have something with the name of her school on it. I did not think about a banner or anything.

The cake idea is pretty good. A cake is personal, embarrassment-proof by default, and will not have your guests thinking you made a egregious effort to show off. That might not have been your intent, and we know that now, but the fact that it had quite a few of us thinking that says something. (note that on this forum we’re already a little low on our standards of humility)

Red and white napkins and balloons for the win.

I also agree that this type of practice is much more likely to be found among big state schools with a lot of athletics spirit. For the hipster Columbians on the board it will strike them as elitist and tacky, while for a lot of average people, it is just all in good fun. Don’t forget the adage about Cornell – it’s ‘elite without being elitist’.

hey I do not think this is pretentious at all! I commend the OP for wanting cornell plates because thats just plain cool lol. Cornell spirit rocks, I would def have that at my party

Perhaps online you can buy the college’s automobile windshield decal or bumper-sticker. Stickie it onto the table-covering (cloth or paper, whatever) right in front of a cake! Then you get the name in college lettering.

Hey TKsmom! Sounds like fun! Have a great time and congrats to TK!
PS My older child goes to McGill - we had Canadian flags all over the house for the grad party!

For D1’s HS graduation party, I used her high school’s colors. We had blue and white all over the place. The party was for her high school friends and families. It would have seem strange to have her college colors.
