Cornell Prelim Conflict

Ok, my question doesn't really pertain to admissions, but I thought experienced Cornellians might be able to answer my question

Prelims are coming up x.x and I have 3 scheduled at the same time. One professor would like to schedule the makeup so that I would have a 1/2 hour break between two of the prelims.

Are they really allowed to do that? If so, is there any way around it? I would really prefer more than 1/2 hour to relax, get the testing stress out, study, and walk to my next prelim.

i think it’s no more than 3 within a 24 hour period…with a makeup would you still have 3 within 24 hours?

BUT some professors may let you skip a prelim without it affecting your grade?

couldn’t you just let your professor know that you would like a more comfortable amount of time to get to the testing location and rest between exams?

Yes they are allowed to do that. Yes it is possible to do well.

My very first semester at Cornell I had 3 finals within a 26 hour period including 2 that were 1/2 hour apart and 1 that was on a Saturday. I also had a 4th final that was on the following Monday.

I don’t think they’ll let me skip a prelim, and I wouldn’t really want to anyway lol
I’m trying to work with my professor right now, but since it’s a TA handling the exam issues, it’s kind of a complicated 3rd party thing

norcal - I’m sure I can still do well lol, it’s a question of doing “just as well” that I’m concerned with. I would actually love that Saturday/Monday arrangement, just not the 1/2 hour apart one haha. But if the professor is technically allowed to do that  I guess I just have to talk with him.

doesn’t that still leave you with two exams at the same time? what will you do about that?

I did the two prelims in a row thing freshman year. I know it’s not ideal but at least you do have a chance to take both exams! I remember just being relieved about that, at first I was going to drop one of the classes over it.
