Hey all fellow or future Cornellians, I got this invitation to this "prestigious four-year scholarship program based on the serious interest you have demonstrated in research and discovery." Basically, it allows you to do research and they pay you :). Anyone get this??

That's pretty prestigious. Congrats!

Yea, I received it too..it seems pretty intense though!

Did you guys do any kind of research in high school?

Yea..I was also an Intel semifinalist, and thats probably why...they may be sending it to ask me to continue my research at cornell..

I got it, but my final college decision is to go somewhere else.

When did you guys get this? Did it come with the financial aid package or did it come separate? Also, when were they mailed out?

what is this "intel" thing. I've been hearing about it for months but nobody ever explained it.

The Intel Science Talent Search competition requires students to submit a 20pg paper or so on research they have been conducting. Most students conduct the research at university labs, etc. Out of the 2000 students who submit their papers, only 300 are chosen as semifinalists, then 40 finalists, and 10 winners. Becoming a semifinalist is an honor of course that one can carry over into college resumes as well. But becoming a finalist will probably help you walk into any college of your choice, including, say, MIT. I said probably, so dont attack me on that lol. But it usually helps * a lot. *

sparticus...i recognize you from the Cornell 2009 website for students. I'm the person listed right under...lol. Hi!
