@binlee ahh i see. how did they get rejected by penn? was it ED?
@throwaway0324 no i meant mit and penn rate in addition to columbia rate being higher than cornell
does human ecology send out likelies or anything?
I read on this thread that HumanEc does phone calls that may indicate admission but it is not confirmed just seems to have a compelling trend based on the forums from the past ten years. I got a phone call, so I hope it does mean something.
Here’s another
@rowanlev Nah…never happened.
yeah, he got waitlisted at Haverford but he turned down Cornell? riiiiight
Hi! Cornell RD applicant here, to the College of Engineering. I’m extremely anxious about whether or not I have what it takes to be accepted, especially since I’ve already received a few rejections (UVA and UNC). I’ll list my stats below, please feel free to tell me what you think. By the way, I am a white female.
GPA Unweighted—3.92
Weighted—4.44
ACT—35
10 APs—includes BC Calc(5), Physics(3), Bio(4), Gov(5)
Honors-
RPI Medal
National Merit Scholar Commended Student
ECs/achievements include…
-Varsity Soccer for 4 years, 2 year captain, letter winner
-Marching band, 1 yr squad leader, letter winner
-Job @McDonald’s for 4 years, 2 year crew trainer
-volunteer work at local churches and school rotary club(20+hour/year)
-Varsity basketball for 2 years, 1yr letter winner
Do I have a fighting chance at the College of Engineering? Some sources tell me its acceptance rate is considerably lower than Cornell’s other colleges, but others say being a woman really skews it.
Thank you for your time
@zzbooboo1 What are your ACT Math and Science subscores? Cornell Engineering seems to zero in on them; this from its website:
ACT Composite Mid-50% Range: 33–35
ACT Math Mid-50% Range: 34–35
ACT Science Mid-50% Range: 33–36
Your profile looks very solid. I wouldnt worry about getting rejected by UVA and UNC since OOS is very tough to get in. Good luck!
@zzbooboo1 , did you apply to any other top engineering schools like Georgia Tech, UTexas at Austin, UMichigan, etc.?
@zzbooboo1
Don’t worry! I was waitlisted at UVA, rejected at Georgia Tech and was accepted via likely to Cornell Eng with around the same stats. Am an asian male so idk how this may be different
@binlee wow I didn’t know that! That’s very interesting— and kinda scary!
@binlee , guess Cronell superscores ACT/SAT??
So I checked my to-do list and it says I have to submit a federal tax schedule. However, the due date was Feb 15. Do I even bother submitting it? Did anyone else have to submit it?
@kobe248224 , If I were you, I would still submit it if the portal allows you.
So, I wonder what the IVYs will do about American IB diploma students now not being able to take exams in May as they are rumored to be canceled worldwide. Assuming 4.0 Gpa, 36 ACT, 800 on math2 and Physics subject tests, lots of ECs, is there a risk now of rescinding acceptance?
Yeah you’re screwed. No you’re definitely fine. I wouldn’t stress about being rescinded with those stats and over something neither you or Cornell could control.
Hi: RD applicant accepted at Georgia Tech, UMich and UMass in CS as OOS, My stats are
SAT 1500 (m 800, ERW 700) single attempt, SAT Subject Physics 800, MATH 800, GPA 4 UW. My high school is outside US
Currently in A2
EC/Achievements: Best student in 9, 10 and 11 grade in my school, Best student at regional level with 98.2% score 10th grade, Captain Table tennis and Footsal team, President S union 11 grade, Winner District table tennis championship and few more
What are my chances in cornell
Cornell: “Your ACT composite will not be superscored.”
What I don’t know is if they look at the ACT subscores from different test dates, or only the subscores from the single highest ACT composite score.
