^ I’m in the exact same situation. Female applying engineering, but no likely in sight. I didn’t apply to MIT though. Hopefully, it all works out for us in the end.

Wow, that 91% reject rate at MIT must be tough. I didn’t apply there…I’m the only person in my calculus, physics, and computer science class not going into engineering. Statistics and PoliSci in the house! lol
I seriously would feel better if an acceptance or likely would come in the mail already…every school is coming in the next two weeks for me. I’ve already been deferred at Duke…which has a 7% admit rate for deferred students blech

Oh, that sucks. ): I was super anxious too when none of my college decisions had come out yet. So far, I’ve gotten into one safety and one target, which was such a huge relief.

Ivy Day on the 29th! Eep.

mmm, same here, I was rejected from MIT! haha. Got a likely letter emailed, from engineering. I admit–I was surprised. Maybe it’s because I’m a girl, in engineering? I’m Asian too, if that helps me any

Congrats guys, and Good luck! :)

When do official results come out?

So, has anyone received a likely from CAS? I know they are the least likely to send likelies, but…

My hopelessness is increasing as time is passing, and no likely is in sight. I’ve heard ILR has already released decisions. :(

As if things weren’t terrible enough, my meh state school didn’t offer me Honors. So now, I’m waiting for the Ivies. 'cept, if I don’t get in to any, I have no idea where I’m going.

At least I’m not alone. Though this site has caused me anxiety, it feels nice to be with like-minded people who understand what I’m going through, not the annoying people at school who are just like “omg you’ll def get in!!!”

Just got an email from Cornell inviting me to this diversity hosting thing at their school. I was a regular decision applicant but they said I was receiving the invitation because I was gunna be accepted. So excited!!! First ivy league response is an acceptance

BigGreen2016: No kidding. I really don’t like everyone telling you how well you will do and you can get in everywhere, but they just don’t know! Even my college counselors tell me that. I think they think I can get in because my school is 89% URM…but they forget it isn’t as easy for the 11% that aren’t URM to be accepted into top schools, and that the one exception was someone who had serious legacy going back 3 generations at two ivies, who was also #2 in her class when she applied. Doesn’t matter that she graduated #8. I applied #8 and moved up to #6…no legacy

BigGreen2016: Don’t worry, you’re not alone! I haven’t heard anything from ILR yet. But we can’t give up hope until March 29th!

Guys, you do know that they only notify about 10% of applicants early…March 29th is the notification date, so why are you assuming you’re rejected haha

hi guys! i got a likely letter a week or two ago (it was mailed march 1st) and i was so thrilled! i applied to ILR, btw.

GPA: 3.5 uw
SAT: 2130 (1410/1600)
APs: spanish language (5) environmental science (4)
currently taking AP Psych, English lang and comp, and Calc AB

I’m Hispanic (Colombian)

im not really sure what else to add… im new to this whole cc forum thing.

cfl927…
Ugh, I feel your pain. My GC’s like “oh, I’d be shocked if you don’t get into Cornell!” I just die a bit inside each time I hear someone say “don’t worry, you’ll get in!” 'cause when I get rejected from the Ivies, it’ll be awk when people ask, and I’m like “um… I got rejected to my reaches.” I just can’t wait to get rejected to my 10 reach schools. sarcasm

GL to you though!!! I hope we’ll see each other at Cornell. :)

cfl927:
I received a likely (but it said “you will be admitted to the Cornell University Class of 2016”) yesterday, and I applied to Arts & Sciences.

Laughingly…
You’re an ILR-er too?!
No one at my school knows about it, so I hope that I’ll stand out among all the CoE/CAS people.
GL TO YOU!!!

Glad to know other people feel the exact same way. I know my bff was rejected by MIT, and I’m going to have to stand by her when everyone asks. She’s #1 in our class, and last year’s saluatorian was accepted but chose to go to Berkely instead. Everyone just assumed because someone was accepted last year that she would get in, but they forget how harsh some of the rejection rates are.

bmoney831:
I received the same email! Does that mean it is certain we are accepted? I just thought it was a weird way of telling us we were accepted
If so, Yay and congrats! I was rejected to MIT so I’m glad Cornell pulled through :-)

where, oh where, are the CALS people?! no likelys for us?

^CALS Environmental Engineering here, likely letters were sent to URMs/otherwise diverse students of all the colleges at Cornell, but don’t feel bad if you didn’t get one. Decision day is only 2 weeks away.

“only two weeks away”…please, that’s the worst time. You can put your mind off of it for the months and months between sending in apps and decisions, except for the month leading up to the day, and from there you get exceedingly anxious every minute.

Chickayan5909: I would assume it means were accepted, I mean they specifically say were giving you this special invitation because you will be admitted to Cornell University’s Class of 2016. I think they just mean that we are accepted but we make it official on their notification date.
