Cornell RD Class of 2016 Discussion Thread

I agree, cfl927, I agree. For months, you can fantasize, but the last 2 weeks are the days that you have to prepare for the reality. That’s the time you have to tell yourself, “this is it, I’m probably getting rejected”. Regardless, the worst moment if when you click, and you get rejected, because up to that moment, there’s still a sliver of hope. Still, if you get rejected, that’s that. But the last 2 weeks, you still don’t know, and that’s what is dreadful about it.

i’m dying over here, white female from brooklyn, ny and i applied to ILR.
I JUST WANNA KNOW. seriously i think that likely letters are ways for them to torture us.

acciocollege…
omg, I thought that too! It’s sick that they release decisions earlier for some, than for others. I hope we both get it though! ILR 2016! Crossing my fingers.

Is it sad that I didn’t even know about likelies until I looked on collegeconfidential? I would have been perfectly fine waiting until the date, but people getting in already isn’t nice to the rest of us. I’m not going to lie, when I was deferred ED from Duke, I had spent the month ahead of time saying it’s ok, I’ll be deferred. Then when I actually saw the letter online saying so, I just went to my room and cried for hours and tore down my duke poster into shreads.
Nothing can prepare you for rejection, even if you do expect it.

Awww, I’m sorry clf927. :frowning: I totally feel your pain. I have a Duke poster too (is yours the one that’s made up of a ton of different pictures?).
Trust me, I’ve shed many tears while being my pessimistic self and imagining the worst. I think about how much effort I’ve put in, and how I’m going to end up at a school I don’t want to go to/even like.
I’ve been telling myself that Ivies are competitive, and to not take it personally if I get rejected, but being me, I will, I know that for a fact.

I have that one and one other that was on the back of the campus map from when I visited.

Ew, if anyone at school knew that I cried over colleges, I’d be seen as a bigger freak than I already am. LOL

I’m spending my time watching the NCAA Tournament and made my own bracket. My friends and I are competing to see who has the most wins etc.

Got a likely letter for CAS on Wednesday! I called the admissions office on Thursday because I didn’t believe it when I read, “This special invitation is extended to you because of your strong academic and personal record and because you will be admitted to Cornell University’s Class of 2016.” So everyone who got that letter, you did get in! It won’t fully sink in until I see the official acceptance letter. And to everyone else who is anxiously waiting for March 29th, good luck!

I got a likely letter from cas today!!! So excited :d

Congrats! :)

Is another wave of rolling decisions for ILR/Hotel coming or are we all doomed to wait till the 29th? Also huge congrats to everyone who got likelies! :D

Has anyone who applied to CALS been accepted?

I still have hope, seeing as an Honors from another school letter that was sent on the 13th just now arrived in my mail. I guess mail really can take awhile to get some places even in big cities. lol

chilli2004, I applied but have not heard back yet and I don’t think anyone will hear back from CALS early unless they are a URM.

Congrats on all the likely letters! I was rejected Duke ED and was DEVASTATED… Now I know in reality my chances for Cornell are very slim, but still hoping for a miracle. I would simply love to be given the opportunity to go to this wonderful school. Of course if not, I’ve got a great state school under my belt and Cornell will still be there in time for graduate school. Good luck everyone! :)

I know this was asked earlier but I did not see a response.

Does anyone who has been accepted have this message showing when logging into your financial aid?

Federal Verification Wksht 05/07/2012 Cornell University Financial Aid
IRS TranscriptParent 05/07/2012 Cornell University Financial Aid

@HB2012- its my understanding that 30% of the fafsas submitted to the Cornell finaid office were flagged for the verifications in your post. at the time they were flagged, admissions decisions still hadn’t been made. its actually possible that even today some applications havent been decisioned. so i dont think thats a reliable indicator of admission.

has anyone received word from CHE?

wait on March 29th, how would you check if you got in? Is there a portal or something?
