Cornell RD Class of 2016 Discussion Thread

Accepted!!

I’m looking at http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/cornell-university/897075-cornell-transfer-option.html</a> and it sounds like they had the same thing and were referring to it as a GT… I certainly hope it is, and I applied to ILR as well by the way.

Looks like Cornell became more competitive this year. Way more rejections than we typically see on CC at this time.

Not all rejections come with transfer option…I would know…Kanye shrug

If it makes any of you rejects (including myself) feel better, their acceptance rate was about 8.6 % this year, as opposed to their usual rate of 18%.

it says i have to wait for the letter
what does this mean!?!? No online decision!!
i applied to cals!

Rejected once again. UT, here I come.

@simpleman95
What’s your source?
Admittance rates shouldn’t drop that much all of a sudden.

Rejected lol

Gives the numbers on the rejection list…crazy stat, if I had known it was that low, wouldn’t even have tried

Cornell hasn’t gone to its wait list in years. This year’s freshman class has several hundred extra students. Maybe they’re trying to reduce the class-size. I know the freshmen had a hard time getting on-campus housing for their sophomore year. There were lots of triples on dorm this year…not ideal!

@GraceTone

I think that the poster may have overexaggerated. I read on the business insider online that it was in the 16% range overall. But, don’t quote me! I would wait until the number is officially released by the Cornell Sun.

Guys… do you think they pulled a Vassar and accepted the wrong students? I got accepted and I feel like I’m less qualified than some people that got rejected haha. Good luck to everyone else!

i also had that transfer option…there’s a separate cornell thread (created today!) about it

Rejected D:

Rejected, did not see this coming at all…

SAT : 2250
Subject Test: 770 M2, 760 USH
GPA: 3.75

"It is important to keep in mind that the vast majority of the more than 37,000 applicants could be successful students at Cornell. Unfortunately, with an expected class size of 3,182, enrollment limitations require us to make difficult admission decisions. "
Simple math…3182/37000 X 100% = 8.6%

lake, they enroll more than the class size because people will go to other schools

@lakeawead

16.2% according to this (reliable?) source:
[Cornell Releases Class of 2016 Admissions Results | The Cornell Daily Sun](http://cornellsun.com/section/news/content/2012/03/29/cornell-releases-class-2016-admissions-results)

@lakeawead

That’s assuming that Cornell has a 100% yield. I mean, I love Cornell (it’s my alma mater), but it’s yield is not 100%. One must remember that Harvard’s yield is 80% or so.
