Cornell RD Class of 2016 Discussion Thread

Got my acceptance in the mail today in NY as well!

Got my envelope today as well, and I live in California.

To be honest, I thought I’d get my admit packet from Berkeley earlier than Cornell of all places. xD

Got mine in NY today too! Thought the ribbon was a nice touch.

What did your guys’ acceptance packets look like? All I got today from Cornell was a small envelope from the biology department congratulating me on my admission and telling me why I should go there.

That package is different from the fat envelope. I received one from the physics department and the official Cornell one

How is Cornell in terms of graduate school placement? I am considering an MS in Engineering and is the undergraduate experience and research experience for engineering at Cornell more valuable than getting a higher GPA and more time to study for the standardized tests at a state uni (UW)?

To Sida48, My D was also accepted to Emory and Cornell and a few saftey schools as well and waitlisted to a few good schools. Very tough year. Are you considering Emory or going to Cornell? Did you apply early to Cornell?

alias95, I’m not an engineer, but my understanding from friends that are is that Cornell engineering seniors are basically guaranteed a place if they’d like to stay a 5th year and get an Meng here.

Wait listed…do you think Cornell (CAS) will accept anyone off the wait list this year?

did anyone get accepted into the 5-year bachelor of architecture program?

is anyone gonna make a facebook group page for class of 2016 (nd 2017 for architect majors)?

I saw a few Facebook groups for the class of 2016. I’m not sure which is the “official” one, if there even is an official one though.

To GMABCD, I was considering Emory mostly because of familial ties (Father attended grad school, uncle is dean of math, aunt teaches there) but Cornell is my personal preference. cornell FA was also better than Emory’s so I’m most likely attending Cornell. I applied regular although I did do early action for UChicago(defer, reject), Notre Dame(defer, waitlist), and Georgetown(defer, reject)
