Cornell RD Class of 2016 Discussion Thread

Is the decision via an online portal like ED?

@hellUVAchance (I love your name btw) I applied to CALS Bioengineering~

@ZaZa94 thanks haha! good luck! did you write the optional 2nd school/program essay?

How can I send in additional stuff for my application to Cornell?

@lifeisbeautiful Yes the decision is given via an online portal. Once you log in, it’s basically a mostly blank page with a countdown in the middle and once it hit’s 0, it will say “Click here to view your decision” and a small popup will open with the short decision letter. Nothing special I’m afraid.

@helluvachance ~ no, I only want bioengineering at cals bc
A) I’m instate
B) I want to double major in aem
C)I want to minor in marine biology loll

& @you can send additional stuff with your Midyear report (that’s what i did)

yay hotelier here too!
@pch340 wow I didn’t know we had to dress up. I better pack some nice things if I’m accepted (the odds are not in my favor, sadly). And you had to wear a suit to your interview? o.O my interviewer specifically said to wear casual and told me I was overdressed when I wore a cardigan and black jeans lol

I’ve applied for Computer Science at Cornell. Let’s see how things go!

Hi everyone! I applied for biological sciences at CAS. The waiting is driving me crazy too…I wish I had applied ED.

Same. Cornell’s the only Ivy I applied to, primarily since it’s the only Ivy apart from maybe Columbia that is any good in engineering. I also really liked the essay I wrote for the supplement; I suppose I’ll know by the end of March whether that’s enough to get an average applicant like me in.

March has arrived! only a few more weeks. good luck everyone!!

^ ahh so nervous
just curious, how are you guys planning on passing the time till march 29?
i feel like, regardless of what i do, there’s a little countdown going on in the back of my mind.

who knows, maybe you two ^^ will be among the lucky likely letter recipents and you wont have to wait until March 29th! thats if they send them this year as theyve done in the past. all the best

This month is going to be killer, I’m already in but I’m waiting on hearing whether one of my friends will be my roommate or not and my other friends applying to their reaches… good luck to all!

I’m dying!!! I desperately want to end this craziness and waiting!

I am extremely nervous and I wish everybody the best! Shout out to all who applied to CALS and especially all the biological engineers xD

The end is nigh.

The wait is killing me!!! Did anyone write the interview essay for Architecture? (-_- )

Hi guys. I applied to Cornell and Caltech under the regular decision plan and wanted to what impression my extracurricular activities (related to engineering) could have on the College of Engineering admission staff of both places.

I made a solar RC car in 11th grade, a robotic arm in 12th grade and this year I made another robotic vehicle for Pakistan science Olympiad, a robotic face (won an ‘Honorable Mention’ title for it; it was an inter-school competition) and a RC tiltrotor. I do not have words or numbers to describe or measure my passion for engineering; I am just very very passionate about engineering.

Other information: My school does not rank. I have straight A’s in both O’ Level and AS level. I hope my teacher recommendations are good too. I don’t want to talk about my SAT I (didn’t get good scores) I took SAT I only once so I hope they will not let one Saturday destroy my life. My SAT II subjects and scores are math II 680 (bad), chem 770 (average) and phy 770 (average). I know I have messed up my SATs but do I still stand a chance? And I have applied for financial aid.

@hkusthku I think that Cornell will definitely be more lenient with your SAT scores. Caltech wants high math scores. They’re supposed to be looking at your application holistically, so as long as you prove yourself despite the lower test scores I think you will be fine  Good luck!
