Anyone get an email about fin aid rn?

@lnxight no and don’t read into it too much.

I like to dream

@lnxight no and don’t read into it too much.

?

@lnxight I must have posted the same comment twice without noticing, sorry about that. What I mean is don’t take the fact that Cornell sends you an email about financial aid as a sign that you’re gonna be admitted ( But I wish it was true)

@Inxight I got one this morning asking to provide very specific additional info. I know it doesn’t mean ANYTHING but I like to dream too LOL

@MrElonMusk Yea no i get u. Just gotta pray at this point

I think it’s a good sign. They have thousands and thousands of applications. Why would they take the time to remind YOU about forms that are missing for financial aid just to reject you.

@tdd2015 On the Princeton RD thread some people were also asking whether the email about financial aid indicated anything and many said it used to but now it doesn’t

I agree that you shouldn’t read a lot into a Finaid information request. DD got a verification request and then was deferred in the EA round at another school. We know people that got the same verification request and then were denied two weeks later. It was particularly crazy they asked us to verify because we only filed to be eligible for some merit awards, we had no serious belief that we’d be in contention for need based. Turns out you just get randomly selected due to federal govt requirements.

Missing forms and audit/verification are things that don’t take them a lot of effort to start. They can see a missing form, or that more info is needed during an initial review that may be done prior to admissions decisions being made or communicated to them. OR your app may have simply come up in the random selection for verification and it costs them virtually no effort to send you the request for the additional data. .

I get it. And I know that financial aid and admissions are 2 different departments , but to request forms so late in the game for nothing? Likely letters should be coming out soon, maybe they want to give people an idea of what their package will look like early.
FYI- I didn’t get the email, so I hope it means nothing
