I agree that the document link that @grk258 posted causes some confusion. The document clearly says Cornell decisions will be released on March 29th. Ivy Day is clearly March 28th.
Well I suppose the calendar must be wrong. The ED date on it was updated once but ultimately accurate however.
Just had my interview/CAAAN contact. Hand down the worst interview experience of my life. Not cause of me, but cause of her. After I introduced myself she kinda gave me a blank stare for 30 sec before stuttering her first questions. She was super awkward and I got the feeling she didn’t listen to a word I said. After each of my responses she would have an awkward pause as she articulated her next question. At one point she asked “oh did I ask you that question already.” It wasn’t conversational at all. When I asked her general questions she’d go “um uhhh idk” or a super generic answer. She just seemed so out of it and disconnected with it all. As if she had no interest conducting the interview to begin with.
how much does legacy help?
@WashUH0peful what were the type of questions that she asked?
@chrisclassof2022 standard questions, nothing unexpected. Tell me about yourself, why cornell, what after cornell…just basic stuff
@WashUH0peful how did you get an interview for Cornell? Sorry to hear about that. I have had 3 college interviews and that is the opposite of what it should be
i got my interview today… how many questions do you reckon i should have preprepared?
What does it indicate if you are invited to interview? My son received an invitation. Cornell surely does not have enough alums to offer interviews with every applicant.
i had an interview, but they don’t matter much. all the interviewers do afterward is type up a 250 word report about how the interview went and submit it to cornell
I was just contacted to do an interview and live on Long Island. I applied on January 2.
@BobSagets what type of questions did they ask?
it varies from interviewer to interviewer, but mine basically talked to me rather than ask me questions about myself. however, i also know people who were asked questions in a formal interview style for 30 minutes. as long as you know yourself, your major, and why u want to go there, you’ll be ok. @chrisclassof2022
@BobSagets thank you. Hopefully tmrw is good!
Just had my interview today and I felt really confident about it so we’ll see!! She said she could tell I really loved learning and Cornell valued that so I hope that it shined through in my essay. I told her what I wrote in my “Why Cornell” essay and she said they were really good and Cornell will appreciate them so fingers crossed!! I wish Ivy Day would come sooner
@confused6789 I’m not entirely sure how I got the interview, I never requested it. I think it’s all based on what alumni are in my area, not grades or anything.
being offered an interview is purely based on a local alum that volunteers to do it. these alums get the contact info and some basic stats for nearby applicants and then reach out to ones they’d like to interview.
based on the hit/miss nature it’s likely to make a big impact on decisions.
typo ---- should be ISN’T likely to be a big impact
Here are links to information regarding the CAAAN Contact Meeting… It does seem to be a contact that can yield a positive report back to the selection committee. Interestingly, my daughter’s meeting was a phone conversation and a fairly laidback discussion about the University.
Is there anyone who has not got any confirmation, leave alone applicantID etc., for application submitted before the RD deadline? It has been just over 2 weeks and nothing so far.
