I got a diversity hosting acceptance letter from Cornell yesterday and I applied to AAP. After months of reading various threads for various schools, I just want to say that there is hope for anyone and everyone. My stats are decent, but below Cornell’s 25th percentile (1340 SAT, 29 ACT, 95.5/100 GPA W), however, I believe that my essay, Rec’s, as well as personal statement about personal matters and hardships really helped. I do believe that even top-tier universities like Cornell look at the individual as a whole and I wish all of you the best of luck and congrats to everyone who’s been accepted!
@collegehello No.
About 5-7% of ADMITS get these emails before ivy day. Its like an LL.
Most admits will get their +ve dec the normal way.
Congrats! @owowee Quick question, which part of AAP did you apply to and is it okay if I contact you to ask some questions? Thanks and congrats again
@rickychen112 I applied to their Urban Studies and Planning Program. I’ll be happy to answer your questions just pm me.
There are schools within Cornell that are not part of Ivy agreement, like Hotel and ILR (and few others), therefore they could release their admission decisions ahead of the Ivy day. Schools like CoE & CAS are part of Ivy agreement, therefore they could only send out likely letters to top applicants, not the actual admission decision until the Ivy day. Nevertheless, most decisions will come out on the Ivy day, so just sit tight.
An international applicant upthread asked about being asked for financial aid information prior to Mar 15. It is a good sign because admission for international students is need aware. They do not meet full need for international students, therefore they want to make sure students they admit can afford Cornell’s tuition.
@oldfort So the FA notification means something in case of intls?
I got an LL for CAS & was extremely surprised. It seems a little late for LL.
@seniorx2019 congratulations!! may i ask if you got it today? through e-mail or letter?
I got it earlier, last Friday with everyone else. I got it by email, but I also haven’t checked my mail.
As Cornell admissions selection committees approach the end of regular decision application review, we want to share information with you regarding Cornell’s online admission decision notification process.
Applicants will be able to view their admission decisions online on Thursday, March 28, beginning at 7 p.m. (Eastern Daylight Time). On the decision release date, we will contact applicants by email with instructions for viewing their decisions. Please note that your decision will not be posted on your Cornell online Application Status Page, so please follow the instructions that will be outlined in our email to you.
You do not need to do anything further at this time. We will post a new message once we have sent the email instructions for viewing your decision online. Should you need to make changes to your contact information, you will have until March 24 to make an update.
Thank you,
The Undergraduate Admissions Office
@AggieMom68 Was this just emailed today?
@ARIVERA1 no, it’s a message on your application portal
Sorry. Should have mentioned it. It’s the portal update.
Daughter got an email on Friday march 15 notifying her of early acceptance to Cornell engineering! Woo hoo! We are thrilled. Good luck everyone!!
@coffeemomCO You mean a LL? There cannot be an early notification other than that before 3/28 for Cornell and non SHA for the class of '23.
@TheGuy1 yes. It says although Ivy day is March 28, we want to let you know you will be offered admission to Cornell. : )
She is Engineering.
1570 SAT
35 ACT

Strong ECs and letter of rec
National merit scholar finalist
My daughter got an email Friday and an acceptance letter in the mail today!
Just got my likely letter to Cornell Engineering last Friday! It was completely unexpected but I am so pumped
I would think so. Admission for internationals is not need blind, it is need aware. For them to ask for FA information before Mar 15 must mean they are interested, but needs FA information to make a decision.
My daughter received her likely letter to Cornell Engineering too. She read the email on the way home from Northeastern’s Honors Welcome day. Acceptance letter from Cornell arrived in the mail today. She’s over the moon, of course, but also loved NEU. Daughter is undecided because she has not yet visited Cornell. I am hearing that the co-op program there is similar to Northeastern’s. Any truth to that?
