Cornell RD Class of 2025

PLEASE USE THIS POST–we are in slow mode and I can’t edit. Left off very important data point in original.

I can’t believe I am saying this, but for the first time, I think you portal astrologers may really be on to something. But we need data. For example, I know people at Cornell now who do not have an APP##### showing up but only a Cornell NetID (initials followed by numbers). I also know people there now who have both. (I wonder if this is difference is explained by school or by whether applied for financial aid–I suspect the latter based on the small data set I have).

Note, try this even if you did not apply for financial aid.

To get to the info, log into Financial Aid Portal. Check Application Status | Financial Aid 2

Go to Main Menu–My System Profile

In the section Alternative User ID hit the magnifying glass for search and a box pops up.

in the Search by drop down choose Description

In the box next to begins with, type in your exact full name including middle name and pay attention to case–it matters

Hit lookup

If nothing comes up, try advanced search and search by your last name if it is not especially common (realizing they only pull the first 300 matches).

Once you have done this, respond so we can figure out what, if anything, it all means:

  1. What your search showed–you might find nothing, you might find more than one–APP20, APP21, Initials followed by numbers (Cornell NetID), etc. Use the format APP20##### to show the number of digits after APP or initials for anything you find for your name. No identifying info please!

  2. School applied to (Engineering, CALS, SHA, CAS, Architecture, SC Johnson, HE, ILR)

  3. ED deferred or RD

  4. Whether you applied for financial aid (the APP reference may be referring to financial aid application and not Cornell admissions applications–we don’t know which is why we need data!)

  5. Whether you ever enrolled in Cornell before (eg summer or winter classes). (You are assigned a Cornell NetID if you attend one of these programs)

You can do this for your friends too. If you don’t know middle name you would need to use advanced search.

I did not apply for financial aid, I am an international, Applied CAS, Applied RD. I have never enrolled in Cornell before.
When I do exactly what you described, I still can find myself and I have APP21 - ####### (I have 7 numbers).

So, since I did not apply for financial aid or any Cornell scholarships, I think that it is safe to assume that this has nothing to do with the financial aid.

APP21-#######
Why do I have 21 ?

Well, I’m an international, applied RD to CAS for Physics.
I desperately wanted aid but missed the deadline(talked FA office of my inability to pay for CSS at that moment in time, but they didn’t had any alternative; so I ended up missing the deadline).

We don’t know yet, but I suspect RD people will be APP21 and ED deferred will be APP20

one of my friend’s name is not coming up. it’s showing “no matching values found”. it could be a glitch though, since mostly all rd applicants are getting the APP####### thing

I’m an International RD applicant who didn’t apply for aid. When I search my name I am getting APP21-numbers. I applied for CS at CAS
However when I searched up my friends names who have applied RD as well, I couldn’t surprisingly find their names or any id

Don’t you think that too many people can find themselves and APP 20/21 - numbers id and therefore this is not a predictor of the decision?

I received likely letter, applied RD, Human Ecology, and am receiving APP21 followed by more numbers

i cannot find several people I know have applied.

And all likely letters seem to have it

can you ask them to check it on their own end once?? that might help with the predictions lol

yeah, but almost every single person here can find their id. Cornell has a 10% acceptance rate overall and a lower acceptance rate for RD applicants + it is more competitive because of covid.

At Berkeley thread this year there was a prediction that worked. And, more than 80% of people were not getting “an indicator of acceptance”. And Berkeley has a higher acceptance rate than Cornell.

So, if almost everyone here is able to find themselves and id, I doubt that this is an indicator.

We really need data from people who cannot find themselves. I know they are out there but if we only hear from people who find themselves, the data will be useless.

  1. APP21-XXXXXXX
  2. Engineering
  3. RD
  4. No financial aid
  5. Never enrolled

Best of luck to everyone today from the moderating team. Remember, regardless of the outcome, your admissions results do not define who you are.

Found APP21-#####. Also another id with initial+4 digit number. The second one is bc I took Cornell summer program last year. Seems like they simply put every record id there.
International, RD applicant, no financial aid.
Just wait and see, we’ll soon find out our fate.

I guess we will never know. Right now we are hearing only from people who can find themselves. I guess data is useless.
