[li] Why you think you were accepted/deferred/denied: again, see strengths ^, but i'm surprised still...
[/li]

[/ul]Other Factors: none really
*General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc:
I'm seriously really surprised that I got in - it definitely was my ECs and stuff that pulled me through, so if you have any questions or anything, feel free to ask! (Not that I'm an expert now because I got in though.. haha)
*

"i think a lot of ppl who dont get in on the waitlist get GT status. So if you can wait a year for Cornell that would be kool..."

This is very untrue. For ILR only 40 people accept the GT which means that not many people are offered GT to begin with. There are thousands of waitlistees and probably only a few hundred GTs, most of who probably weren't waitlisted to being with. I donno y someone would make that assumption...

[/ul]Other Factors:
General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations etc.:
Probably my best choice at this point. Cornell’s matter of fact attitude and I work perfectly, but I am concerned about the size of the school and classes and more impersonal nature than most of my other schools. I will probably deposit here while I wait on my waitlists. Waitlisted at Yale, Harvard, and Williams. Deferred and then rejected at Princeton.
Good luck to everyone!

[li] Why you think you were accepted: If I knew I would tell you, but I don't. I was actually expecting that little envelope. [/li][/ul]Other Factors:
General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc: Congratulations to those who were accepted. To those who were denied acceptance Yale is not the end-all-be-all college, I am sure as a CCer you have many other options available. Good luck to those on the waitlist and whatever you do never give up! Congrats again to everyone!

*Decision: GUARANTEED TRANSFER for HE *
so, i'm considering that as accepted. i'm insanely happy, haha. :]

[] Other stats: nothing.[/ul]
Subjective:[ul][] ECs listed on app: nothing that really could have stuck out (honor society, etc) except for maybe tutoring a mentally handicapped elementary school student for four years.
[] Job/Work Experience: none.
[] Essays (subject and responses): they were good.
[] Teacher Recs: they were amazing. AMAZING.
[] Counselor Rec: not so amazing.

[] Gender: female.
[] Hooks: none, i don't think.
[] Strengths/Weaknesses: i'm good with people, interviews and teacher recs. etc.
[li] Why you think you were accepted/deferred/denied: i don't think i was accepted right away because my grades and sat scores weren't the absolute best (clearly...i've been reading this board for a while and never wanted to do a chances? thread because i figured i would be um, laughed at a tiny bit) - as yesterday was getting closer i was thinking i was out of my mind and definitely getting a flat out rejection.[/ul][/li]Other Factors: nope
General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc: seriously, when i read the letter the first time i assumed it was just a rejection - i saw the "this isn't what you wanted to hear" and the like and got sad - but then i re-read it and was all ".....YAY?!". people from my school, including my friends, that have better grades/sat scores than me were rejected, so it was a little crazy. congratulations to everyone that got accepted because you probably all deserve it, and i will most likely be seeing you in 2008. :]

Waitlisted and I frickin' hate Cornell for making me wait 3 hours to find out!:(

I'm curious about the URM's who didn't get a likely letter... did it end up being true that all non-likely URM's didn't get in?
btw, after a half hour cryfest b/c of Yale, I'm kinda-pretty-actually very excited about cornell...

^ I'm also curious about how many internationals got accepted who didn't get the likely letter.

[] Strengths/Weaknesses: I wrote my essays on the day the application was due, but they didn't turn out as bad as I thought.
[li] Why you think you were accepted/deferred/denied: I'm a strong student and I am sure my recommendations reflected that. Other than that, all I can say is that it is a crap shoot for many of these top schools. [/ul][/li]General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc: I was also selected for the Irwin and Joan Jacobs Scholarship. Congratulations to everyone that was accepted; I hope to see you in the fall!

Am I the only one that got my admissions decision like 1 1/2 weeks ago in the mail, before it was even on the internet?

They sent me a really small envelope, so I thought I got rejected, but I opened it and it said I got in. That was really surprising, I was like 80% sure I wasn't gonna get in.

Some of my stats:

SAT: took it twice, best scores: 690 reading, 640 math, 630 writing
SATII: 670 Bio-E, 530 mathIIC (really bad, and I actually studied for weeks before I took it. math is not my strongest subj)

gpa: 3.9 unweighted, 4.5 weighted
class rank: 6/392 (probably has changed, used to be #4 before I got that C in pre-calc)
senior year courses: AP Comp, IB Environmental Systems, AP Psych, Trig, Fine Crafts, Minority Studies, Band A&B

Location/Person:

State: NC, near Ft. Bragg
School: Public, ~1,300-1,400 students, nothing special cept a really good athletic program (we won girls' basketball state champs! yay!)
Ethnicity: African American
Gender: Female
Hooks: the 2 above this, lol
Income Bracket: Middle Class, my parents make ~$100,000 in a good yr

Comments: I'm still amazed I got in. My SAT's were nothing special, the only thing that might have stuck out is my gpa, and essay which I thought was pretty good (i wrote it in a couple of hours). My cousin also got in and my friend is still waiting on her decision (she forgot to turn in her midyr report till a couple of weeks ago) so if we all get in and go, that'd be the coolest thing ever.

I'm part URM..got accepted by Cornell (arts and sciences) and never got a likely letter.

accepted to Engineering!

btw-sorry guys- i would use that form at the beginning of this discussion to post my stats- but i have no idea how to use it... im a newbie :)

Dulce thanx for answering my questions, I know it would be crazy for Cornell to do that...
