Comments:
I really think that my high GPA and great essays (I do have a thing for writing) helped me significantly. However, as the number 4 kid in my class was (in my view) far more qualified for the school and rejected in ED, I really can't tell you how they make such choices. It's crazy.

Now I really have to consider - am I actually going to be able to afford this school?

Congrats to all who made it in!

Yes, this is an RD thread; the last time I checked, RD usually involves acceptance to a school
GT is just a loser's consolation prize

So, what? People who were rejected/waitlisted shouldn't be posting here either?

The title of the thread is RD decisions, not RD acceptances.

In any case getting GT is a great offer for those who really love Cornell. It's by no means a loser's consolation prize...

Unitedhell, before you make an ignorant comment like that, I suggest you actually research and find out what a Guaranteed Transfer Option (GT) at Cornell is all about, instead of calling it a "loser's consolation prize", which is certainly not the case. I don't see why GTs can't post THEIR ACCEPTANCE TO A SCHOOL decisions here.

Sounds like a bad case of sour grapes to me.

sour grapes my ass, I actually got into Cornell, if you take the liberty to looking through some of the posts around page 34-45

Then there's no need to sound bitter then, is there? If you got in, what's the problem. Why do you have such a problem with GTs?

Civility is greatly appreciated around here. :)

Maybe you shouldn't go then u elitist pig. Why would u ever say such a thing?

Don't listen to such talk GTs. Never on these boards in the year I have been on them have I heard anyone talk down to a GT and it is NOTHING to worry about. I guess there are pricks at every stage of life. But don't worry about them being the majority. More like 1 out of anyone who has ever posted on these boards. No worries...

“GT is just a loser's consolation prize”
sooo much ignorance…it’s actually funny… congrats on getting in unitedhell I’m sure you’ll be a great ass….et to Cornell if u decide to go!
Ps. u must have a pathetically dreadful/sad life…It’s understandable!

woahhh hEated

hahaha.......

alright coming from someone who knows unitedhell personally, yes he does live a rather pathetic life and is quite ignorant in a diverse world. to say the least... sorry dude. :D

General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc:

a million bucks your name is jason l. and you go to plano west.

"Yes, this is an RD thread; the last time I checked, RD usually involves acceptance to a school"

Considering Cornell's acceptance rate was 20% this year, I would say that RD usually involves a rejection.

wow, drama on CC is amazing. grow the hell up.

unitedhell is my best friend. <3

btw, only people like him will succeed in life. :) :)

p. elle, huh?

anyways...

GT is not an acceptance. You have to fulfill certain criteria before you gain the acceptance. Plus most students with the GT offer do not end up at Cornell because they'll choose to stay at the college instead of transferring. In my case, I gained acceptance to UPenn as a transfer and ended up staying here because I didn't want to restart my college experience again.

Anyway, I talked to an admissions officer about the GT offer back when I was still deciding on which I school I wanted to attend and they told me that GT were usually offered to students living in rural places, students who attended high schools that weren't feeder schools to Cornell. The minimum GPA requirement is just to confirm that you can succeed academically at the college level.
